Q: Sumo-lings!
What an exciting day this is turning out to be at Malcolm! HQ (well virtual HQ as we are all working from home atm but you get what I mean!)
THANK YOU SO MUCH for all the feedback, suggestions and questions - it’s so nice to be part of this community and hang out with you.
Because I can’t reply to replies I just wanted to cover off a few points and popular questions:
- We are planning to add a load more integrations later this year - both direct integrations and some integration platforms. We know Zapier is less than ideal but it does at least make a larger number of integrations possible at this point. Please do let us know the integrations you want by sending an email to support@malcolm.app as that will help us prioritise which ones to do first.
- We do want to add support for other languages but that is unlikely to be until 2021. In the meantime you can change a lot (but not all) of the front end language eg https://support.malcolm.support/faqs/can-i-change-the-terminologyrename-faqs-andor-workflows and you can of course add content to Malcolm! in any language of your choice.
- Instances are confusing some of you. Sumo-ling Kay has nicely summed up what an instance is saying “an instance is a unique organization inside Malcolm (AKA the FAQ, forms, etc. which represents the unique documentation and workflow for that organization). Each set of tools and customizations/branding can be used once per instance. In other words, you can't have multiple branding options for a single instance (organization) since each instance reflects the options you set for it. You can set new customizations and branding options per each new instance.”
- to confirm with the AppSumo deal you get unlimited FAQs, unlimited Workflows and unlimited Control Panel users per instance.
- you can indeed remove the branding from the parts of Malcolm! your users will see - we understand the monkey isn’t to everyone’s taste (he’s a bit upset but we have given him some bananas to cheer him up). Here’s how to do it: https://support.malcolm.support/faqs/can-i-remove-the-malcolm-branding
- finally we wanted to touch on the fact that Malcolm! is a bigger and more flexible product than it might first appear. You could use Malcom! solely as knowledge base software or solely as a form builder. It’s pretty good at both those things and has a ton of features. But we think the magic begins to happen when you bring both those things together, brand it up to match your own look and feel, set up your hosted hub, plug your workflows into third party systems and bring content from Malcolm! into your current website via embeds. There are some ideas of how you could use Malcolm! here: https://malcolm.app/examples and also some more ideas on our blog here: https://blog.malcolm.app/tag/how-tos/
Thanks again from Team Malcolm!
