Product requests

I am a new customer of Marble. Until recently I worked for a very important product design tool company. I am now producing a bunch of courses. I am hoping to use your tools for a long time, as I invest in building out my courses.

I have a couple of UI recommendations that I think would make a huge difference in the usability and presentability of the courses (and therefore increased sales and therefore customer retention).

1. When using a Youtube Video:

I love that it automatically detects the thumbnail from Youtube. What is not great is that on the left it says "www.youtube.com". It would be so much better if there was a way to override that text. This is an underutilization of this large white space. I would love to be able to put a short text there.

2. When embedding a video

Embedding content actually works out much better. Even when embedding a Youtube video by using an iframe, we no longer see the "www.youtube.com" text. YES! The problem is that the thumbnail on the right is the same generic thumbnail as all of the other generic thumbnails. There should be a way to upload an image to that space. It would be SO much nicer, and allow course creators to stay on brand.

I was able to get around some of this by switching to a Module view. Although I don't think that would work for everyone.

There are a couple of other things that would be great product improvements, like:

coupons

being able to embed a video on the main course page (to explain the course before someone buys)

& a few others

Fantastic product but support is poor

As someone who has used various kinds of LMS, I am impressed with the power, simplicity, and flexibility packed into Marble. The fact that one can easily organize existing content into an online course is a major advantage.

However, the support leaves much to be desired. Email was not answered and live chat was not responsive even though agents appeared to be online. I waited for the whole day before writing this review, knowing that the team might be very busy; but still, I have not received a response.

The Marble Academy is also not as helpful as expected. Some videos are outdated as they appear to have been created for an earlier version of the platform which is different from the current platform in very significant ways.

More importantly, the CNAME feature is not working as described. Even after setting it up and confirming that it has propagated, the subdomain simply brings up a Heroku page instead of showing the Marble Academy that was set as the destination.

I was excited about Marble and was going to recommend it to others but now, I have to hold on. If users cannot receive the needed support at this relatively early phase, how can one be assured of excellent support over the long term? I hope the team will look into these issues and do the needful.

I've also had a problem with support. I sent in a request yesterday and still haven't heard back. When I redeemed, it was to a trial account. I asked how to get that change. I'm holding off on a review to see if I can get some resolution.

You set everything correctly for the custom domain and both CNAME records were correct. No other actions are required from your end on the custom domain. 💙 Sometimes it takes a bit of time for the custom domain to get activated.

You can also change the height of the course directly while copying code, in case you want it to appear with bigger height for example from current 500px to 600 or 700.

Word of advice, they have basically abandoned this product. If it's something you hope will improve with time, it will not. They have ditched this for their new product, Marbleflows and you can expect that this will fall to the wayside. It's not even a core part of their business model anymore, it's just something they can offer a LTD of and abuse the LTD users for a product they're not serious about supporting long-term.

We understand possibly occurring confusion. Currently, we have two products: Marble Academies and MarbleFlows. We are working on both of them, having two separate development teams dedicated to each of them.

MarbleFlows is a great addition to Marble Academy to promote courses and engage better with the learners and was developed based on the feedback received from Marble Academy users.

Just terrible, even after waiting for months

I don' think much of anything has been accomplished from May to August 2022 on the product roadmap. It seemed bare bones when I purchased, but it's just the same now as it was then. It's highly unusable, anti-customizeable product I've worked with in a long time. What actually functions is so limited, it barely helps. There is almost no customization of the courses, your landing page, nothing.

In addition... Marble has an Academy... which you have to sign up separately for (why?). Then... no videos, text, or PDF's work in any of their courses and I tried on multiple browsers (this academy issue is as of Aug 5th - Aug 8th, 2022, so hopefully the square it up soon).

I am extremely disappointed in Marble. This product should never have been allowed on Appsumo to begin with and even if they sold a ton of them back then, they didn't use the funds for product development. Frankly, I'm disgusted in the vetting process by Appsumo. You're going to lose me Appsumo and I'm a regular purchaser. Nuff said there.

As for the bugs, we do our best to react and fix them as soon as possible and prevent them in the future.
