It is an amazing deal!
It has some features that need work – but that is why products come to APPSUMO. They need the influx of cash to grow and develop the features required.
PROS:
- The deal is great – I have tested Timely (Pricey), Clockify (auto tracking broken on windows), TimeBro (bad reporting), and several built into various project management software. Trackabi – offers the best ROI I have found.
- Reports are flexible and sharable.
- Desktop timer starts automatically – which some of the others don’t
- Has URL tracking
- Great job managing time across a multitude of windows and applications open or used at the same time… Real world we all have many screens on at the same time and some of them are for reference and some of them or for actual work in… so trusting that the software can merge times for these across a variety of use cases is helpful. (Timely for example can only break out some of this and you often end up with duplicate time entries as it does not track activity to the second – whereas Clockify tracks it to the second, but does not do a great job on windows with Idle time removal)
CONS:
- Desktop timer starts automatically – worth the price tag right there if it actually started tracking something when it started…..BUT you must put n the projects every day and tell it where to … It start reliably and is a nudge to track time, but it is not automatic like Timely or some of the ones built on AI truly are. It does some tracking in the background, but there is no easy way that I found to edit those items – so you basically have to start a timer for every action. Totally manual.
- URL tracking. It doesn’t show the URL that you accessed, or let you edit how or what that was charged to – still in progress, so maybe in the future?? Since I work online in client APP’s and websites constantly – the ability to see the URL and what I worked on helps me grab those missing items where a client sent an email and needed something urgent…. In the real-world time blocking only works some of the time. Clockify URL tracking not only shows me the URL, it helps me identify which emails I time spent on and can allocate them to a client (My preference would be to be able to do this using rules defined OR by email address or Google folders – but I am probably dreaming to get it to the level)
- Work & Leisure Apps assigning is not useful… How can Google Chrome be one or the other? I use word and Excel for both work and hobbies – so it can’t be defined that way. I find this part disappointing in the current state. I love the concept of gamification for this as I don’t take enough time away from work – but this one doesn’t work for me.
- Smart timer – brilliant in concept and from what I gather a new addition. But on my APP it repeatedly (like 30x/hour) starts and stops even when I am in Google chrome working on multiple screens with multiple windows clicking typing and moving my mouse – I found it frustrating to have on.
Final notes – good backup

— Yes, you have to select a project you're working on. But you can also continue one of the previously logged time entries. In this case, the data will be copied, and you won't have to select a project again. To do it, you can click on the Play icon in a time entry. You can use time entries from the past days as well.
— Please note that the URL tracking feature is available starting from version 1.3.0. Here you can find more details about it https://trackabi.com/help/window-title-and-browser-url-tracking
— Work/Leisure feature needs improvements, we are working on this.
— When you are using the Smart Time Tracking feature, the timer pauses when there is no activity (no mouse moves or keystrokes); it doesn't happen immediately but after the period called Timer Tolerance, it's a setting in the web interface and in the app. It's 2 minutes by default, and probably in your case it's too little. You can increase this time and the timer will wait longer.
