Q: A few questions
Hi there
1. Do you cater for different spoken Chinese dialects? For example, there is the standard Mandarin and there are other spoken languages such as Cantonese (spoken in Hong Kong) and also Hokkein or Teochew. They are can be transcribed into Chinese words.
2. What is the maximum duration for recording voice notes?
3. When accessing Gmail, can it be done via Firefox (instead of Chrome) to use Vocal?
4. Do you have a demo video on how Vocal is used in MS Outlook?
5. When the recipient receives the email, can the email display the link to the voice note and also the transcribed text?
Thank you.

Jul 25, 2025A: 1. I'm not sure, we haven't been able to test. Feel free to try and let us know :)
2. Duration of voice recordings is unlimited
3. You can access Vocal for Gmail on any device or browser (firefox included) via our add-on, but the features are a bit more limited -> https://workspace.google.com/marketplace/app/record_your_voice_send_voice_messages_in/383286918123 - our Chrome extension has more features.
4. Check out vocal.email/outlook
5. The transcribed text is visible once he clicks on the link, but not directly in the email because it would be confusing ("did someone write this, it is a transcription?")
Hope that helps!
⚠️ For us, that's the deal-breaker:
"The transcribed text is visible once he clicks on the link, but not directly"
😢 “Vocal” is completely useless because we can't search the mails for the text of the voice message.
That's why the transcription must be directly in the mail body, without any click.
🤣 The directly integrated transcription is confusing?? 🤣
Just add a title before the transcript:
Hello,
Here is the transcription of the voice message in the attachment:
"..."
It couldn't be easier. And if someone finds it confusing, they won't understand a voice message either 🙂
Hey! Good feedback. There are a few technical reasons preventing us from integrating the transcription directly in the email (transcribing takes a few seconds so you'd have to wait longer before being able to send the email) and voice messages can be searched by their transcription in our web app (app.vocal.email).
Finally, integrating the transcript in the email could make it quite a long email
So for all those reasons, we have never implemented it but we have thought about it ;)
