A: Thanks for reaching out! This is something I want to make sure to clarify properly.

We do not store or send your voice messages anywhere. They stay on your computer and that's it.
Then, we do have some analytics in place (to know how many customers we have and to detect bugs - it's similar to any similar saas app).
That's pretty much it!
We do not know who you email or anything like this for example. The only sort of information we use for analytics is the fact that you clicked on the mic button in Gmail to record a message.

Does that clarify things?

Than why require the sign in. Why not sell the code to ulock the app?

"Why require the sign in?"

We have been existing without AppSumo for a long time :) Without sign-up, we would not be able to offer upgrade options, editing signature features or anything else that is personalised.

Having a sign-up is pretty standard for every Saas app :)

fair enough

But can you connect sign in to usage?

Like every Saas company, we can connect events to our users, if that's what you're asking?

So for example we would be able to know how many messages were sent by our customers on any given day and we would be able to know who sent how many messages. This is the sort of analytics companies like ourselves use to better understand app usage and fix bugs.

But we would not be able to know who you sent messages to or what was sent in the message. This is considered private information that we do not keep track of.

Okay. But can you anonymize the login info with usage.so a login [email protected] becomes a code 1234 that used the app 5 times today? so its win win for all. Yiu get your stats and the username is anonymous.

The problem with such apps is that it sits in your email client framwork and more anonynimity the more likely people will use it.

Hey :)

The reason we don't do this is so that we can provide support and security. We need to know what your email is so that when you change your email signature, we know it's you and not someone else. Also if a bug happens, we know who had the issue so that we can reach out.

In the future, maybe technology changes and we can offer different solutions that are even more private but for now we definitely can't offer anonymity as we link accounts with email addresses :)
