Easy Setup and Worked Great

I used Meetn for the first time and it worked great. I easily set up the custom meeting room and set it to exit to my website. I sent out the invitations and everything went pretty well. One user dialed in because she said that she was having trouble with the download. One user was driving, and although her audio was cracking (I don't think it was a Meetn issue), we were able to understand what she said. At the end, I asked the 4 guests if they wanted to switch back to a previous platform or stick with Meetn. They chose Meetn.
Today I contacted Meetn support via email and the responded in under 20 minutes.
Meetn has met my needs and I'm excited to try more features and see how this platform improves over time.

looking forward to meetn's progress

*EDIT* having seen other reviews and questions going unanswered within the evaluation period was concerning when added to what i believed i had observed. upon clarification from founder that i misinterpreted the links observed and they are intentional i'm big enough to edit my review (although IMO i believe there's got to be a better way to site sources than with urls that don't work). looking forward to hopefully getting closer on mobile browser based signup and meeting capabilities as well as all of meetn's progress to come!!

Ummmm no.. not dead.... The "raw links" you're talking about are there on purpose. We are linking to news sources to backup our claims about Zoom being a bad actor when it comes to privacy, etc, and the "raw links" are meant to show very clearly that we sourced our claims.

Should've Heeded My Intuition and Sought a Refund

This has been one of the most disappointing AppSumo purchases I've made. The multiple bugs I encountered in my first week of use were red flags. I guess I was feeling overly generous and optimistic that the dev team would follow through on its commitments, but development has been abysmal ever since. Not only has there been virtually no movement on feature expansion and functionality enhancements, but the bugs have only gotten worse, not better, with time. Worst by far are the near constant audio issues: crackling or buzzing sounds that make calls impossible, audio sources spontaneously changing for attendees, and so on. The real turning point was today when my meeting guest sent me her Zoom link via Meetn's chat sidebar (sure wish the support team was present for that)!

The thing about videoconferencing platforms is they have to perform flawlessly; there can be no tolerance for bugs if they interfere with important meetings. Alas, I've reluctantly reverted my meeting link to Zoom in TidyCal and elsewhere, abandoning Meetn for good. I wish I could say it was good while it lasted.

(At least I don't have to uninstall the desktop app that was promised and never delivered.)

we have thousands of customers at this point, and not hearing this kind of thing broadly. Also, the very nature of the video conferencing technology is that all we do is *forward* audio and video... we never decompress it and munge it... so any audio artifacts are either from the source, or from packetloss. We use "forward error correction" for audio, which means redundant audio bits are sent...

Broken Promises and Missing Features - A Disappointing AppSumo Purchase

I was very patient waiting for the breakout room functionality to work. However, there is still no chat feature, let alone the ability to share files within a breakout room (I’ve been hearing it will be fixed in two weeks for the past two months). The same goes for other updates like new tutorials, a new website, and a desktop app.
The features they built into the app two years ago really set them apart from Zoom. Now, they look like Zoom’s poor relative; everything feels dated, and they will probably close soon. Rick will likely start another business, claiming it has been on the market for 20 years. XD
By the way, AppSumo verifies nothing. I canceled my Plus subscription because of Meetn and how they verified the owner’s LinkedIn profile.
If they (Meetn) finally add features like functional breakout rooms, a modern UX, and a desktop app, I would revise this review. For now, it’s just another waste of money on AppSumo.

Edit: After Rick's reply, changed from 2 tacos to 1 taco:
- he promissed brekout rooms will be fixed by June
- they also promissed desktop app
- new layout for the website
- adding new actual tutorials including brekout rooms

Nothing from the above happened.

I love the product but have had challenges this past week

I really love Meetn and enjoy using the product but this past week has been bad with the tool bouncing myself (as owner and admin) out of meetings and dropping clients too. They pop back but it has been numerous times in each meeting - I have never seen this before so wanted to raise it in the hopes you are do a big new update and thus the system has been wobbling a bit. We did clear cache but that did not entirely solve it.
And I do love the many breakout rooms too - just one request for the features that setting up the breakout rooms can be saved so that someone can for example answer a chat and come back to managing the rooms. Currently this loses the rooms - this is before they are open in the set up phase.

thanks for the breakout suggestion. we'll consider that when it comes back to the top of the pile. We did have a AV1 codec crashing-the-browser issue in early July which was fixed in early July too... and no more issues like that!
