More Hype Than Help, With Zero Support
I had high hopes for Merlin AI, but it ended up being a disappointing experience overall.
While using the tool, a pop up would appear in the upper right corner of my screen asking for a donation. It was distracting and confusing, especially since the extension already aggressively pushes paid upgrades.
At one point, it also appeared that my lifetime license had been revoked. Features I previously had access to were suddenly unavailable. I reached out to customer support to ask what happened and never received a response. I later contacted support a second time to ask why the extension was asking for donations and, again, received no reply.
Beyond that, the tool itself feels outdated and underwhelming compared to how it’s marketed. Much of the output was low quality, generic, or appeared recycled to the point of feeling plagiarized. Performance was another issue, it was often slow and unresponsive, which made it frustrating to use for any real work.
Between the intrusive pop ups, constant pressure to upgrade, unclear licensing issues, poor output quality, slow performance, and completely unresponsive customer support, I eventually removed the extension from my PC and no longer use it.
Overall, Merlin AI seems far more promising on the surface than it is in practice. I can’t recommend it.
