MetaSurvey — Plus exclusive Reviews

While their unlimited storage and swipe questions are nice (even though swiping between two choices has a limited use case), these are the only unique aspects of this tool, in my opinion. However, these features don't make up for the app's overall limitations, as most of the features it offers can be attained at a much lower cost using other tools on AppSumo that have even more advanced capabilities, like Formly, for example.

Other basic limitations of MetaSurvey include:
🚫 1) Custom HTML isn’t supported
🚫 2) Cannot modify font styles (only colors)
🚫 3) CSV import only supports swipe questions with Yes/No answers. Not possible to import multiple-choice questions.
🚫 4) Respondents cannot upload files (which is where unlimited storage would really be a benefit)
🚫 5) Cannot use a keyboard to navigate all question types (only a few)
🚫 6) Cannot use variables (like first name or their score in questions)
🚫 7) Cannot add an image to all question types (only swipe questions)
🚫 8) Cannot rank items as a question type
🚫 9) Cannot provide respondents the option to skip a question, as all questions must be answered (which is a turn-off for most people). The ability to make some questions optional is a basic survey feature that most people expect, so it is embarrassing as a survey developer to have to add "Do not wish to answer" as a choice. Even as a highly voted feature, there is no indication this will be possible soon.
🚫 10) It advertises that you can "easily" translate surveys into any language "manually", which is contradictory as this puts all the effort on you. There is no language menu option to accomplish any part of this automatically (even the interface text must be translated manually).
🚫 11) Only 1 user can access an account (extra charge for additional users)

Considering that MetaSurvey has been on AppSumo nearly non-stop since 2021 and has less than 50 reviews, this is very telling. It also raises concerns about their MRR and explains why the product has been lingering on the platform for so long.

*Note to seller: If any of the missing features listed above have already been released and I am mistaken, please specify which ones for the benefit of everyone. Also, can you please explain why none of these are listed under the "roadmap" category as you stated in your original response but instead are still listed as or have been downgraded to "gathering votes"? In fact, the only item currently listed under the "roadmap" section is the dynamic variables feature, which only has 11 votes (quite low compared to many other more basic feature requests with more than twice the number of votes). So what is the purpose of asking users to vote on a feature if more popular requests for essential features, like the ability to add images to all question types or the ability to make some questions optional, are not being prioritized year after year? 🤔

This software is very easy to use, clear UI. Offers all features needed to carry out simple surveys. Looking forward to further developments to add a bit more flexibility in questionnaire design. All in all: great tool.

To get more than 1 user its immediately chargeable. Once you add users its not a particularly good experience either.

I actually purchased this tool and stacked 3 Tacos...then returned it. Then purchased it again. This is how desperate I am for a good, simple, effective survey tool that I could use with audiences when I speak.

This tool has the potential to be AMAZING, but there are some really critical, simple things that are currently missing.

1. NO FIRST/LAST NAME: There is no option for a FIRST NAME and LAST NAME question. You have to set these up as two separate questions, which feels cumbersome to users.

2. CAN'T CHANGE QUESTION NAMES: DO NOT start from a template if you plan to do any integrations. The names of the questions are hard-coded when the survey is created and you can't change the names which makes integrating through Pabbly or anywhere else confusing. Just start from scratch and name your questions correctly. You can change the question for the user but it doesn't change behind the scenes.

3. NO HIDDEN QUESTIONS or DEFAULTS: I really need to be able to have a hidden question with a default value so I can pull that through my integration. That's not an option.

4. MULTICHOICE QUESTIONS ARE REQUIRED: If you do a pick list, at least one value has to be selected. My preference would be to have the question as optional, but instead, I have to add a "no thanks" choice, which is a shame.

I'm going to keep going with this platform and hope that they make the tiny tweaks needed to make this tool a real competitor! Thanks for offering a very good tool. :)

Cons - I really want to love the software, but

The developers choose to gate tiny QOL features behind a second monthly paywall so early in development it makes this product feel like a cash grab rather than something built to provide value to customers.

You get webhooks, but Google Sheets is a monthly fee, so customers have the small hassle to set up webhooks or pay $15 monthly?
The Folders to organise the dashboard you get 1 free? really 1?

If you want to get LTD customers to pay monthly in the future make it a value-add

Not tiny QOL features

Pros: Very slick interface. Easy to setup any survey. Survey's are best in mobile, but works great on a desktop too. I have ended up using more than I expected and can't think of any bugs, so it's well thought out. Customer support is top notch.

Cons: Only real con I can think is most of the updates that have been rolled out require a additional subscription. However, if you are a power user, probably worth it. I, however, am not sadly.

Summary: Great product & worth the investment. Highly recommended.

5 Tasty Tacos!!
I purchased this with doing a few simple surveys in mind.

My daughter is starting a Garden Consulting business and asked if I could create a fact finding survey. I took a look at what another person did, and MetaSurvey allowed me to take things 10 steps forward!

I ended up with 35 questions, which may sound like a lot, but the swipe right/left, multiple choice and conditional logic make the survey custom to each user.

For example. If I ask a question about a raised garden beds, they can say no to a huge setup, skipping 5 photos. The conditional logic lands them on the next group of photos to say yes/no to. Nice! She knows exactly what the customer likes, and the budget!

MetaSurvey creates a real quality survey. You have several choices on how to display it. I chose a small button at the top of he page that engages a popup. At the end of her survey, I send the person to book a 15 minute call.

Cons: I was a little disappointed that I had to pay $15 a month for Google sheets integration. That was offset by the fact that they DO provide Webhooks. It took me about 10 minutes to setup the google sheet with webhooks and take the survey! Boom, I'm a happy camper now.

If you are a teacher looking to do a quick quiz, set up a formula on the last cell of your sheet to grade and assign a number and a letter grade!

Note: the time format the survey is sent over is in ISO 8601 (e.g., 2024-04-02T18:24:27.000Z). If the time the survey taken is important, google "ISO-8601 String to Date in Google Sheets cell" and you will get a starting point for a long calculation to convert it.

It's easy, it's clean, very intuitive, it serves quickly... Am I in heaven?
These are suggestions for further improvement.
- Being able to preset the country or countries, when requesting the phone, without having to choose all the flags.
- A faithful User who, when asking for the person's name, will henceforth address him/her with his/her name.
- That there be the option that, when translating the fields, it is universal or that you have the option of using the general or customizing, so as not to have to translate each form.

I run lead generation ads on Facebook, so having the ability to easily create high converting landing pages is critical to the success of a campaign. I prefer using "quiz" style landing pages but they can be super cumbersome/complicated to create.

Within about 10 minutes or so I was able to build a quiz using MetaSurvey to generate leads. It's super easy to use, and the templates look great!

I'd love to see the addition of more fields (First/Last Name, address, birthdate, etc) and the ability to customize how many fields you put on a single page. Plus, being able to pass url parameters to the final page a user is redirected to would be amazing (for tracking).

I 100% recommend this product to anyone who generates leads, or needs to create high converting survey/quiz style pages!

Overall really like the webapp. My only big issue is that I can't view or edit anything on the go when accessing via mobile phone. It is surprising that an app designed for end user experience on a phone. Can't be edited by admin on a phone. Once that feature is added will be 5 out of 5.

I had already created a free account and because of that the redemption code wasn't working, so I just sent it to them and they activated it. So fast and helpful!

I bought this and immediately used it on a live survey. It was quite easy to set up. I would have liked a little more flexibility in the themes and theme layout -- it looks better on mobile than it does on desktop, and the custom logo is very small on desktop. The layout is not quite the best in that the question card spacing/border does not completely adjust properly for long questions. I sent a screen shot of my layout issue to support and got a prompt response, but that was a few weeks ago and this has not yet been fixed, and it makes the survey look a bit amateurish. It would be nice to be able to send survey notifications to addresses other than the account owner (separate notification recipients per survey) but apparently this is already on their to-do list. Overall, a nice product that works well, which needs a little more polish.

This is very easy to use. Probably as easy or easier than Survey Monkey. There are two main downsides to MetaSurvey, and that is the limited branding options and the inability to send notifications to any address other than the account owner.

That's it. Four stars for where the app is now, minus one for the limits of some essential features.

My experience so far is that I'm very pleased with the simplicity, intuitiveness, and ease of use. I can go as simply as I like or I can layer my CTA to guide the experience of participants. This provides flexibility and efficient tools to engage with my audience. I'm thrilled.

Just not sure if I want to keep this one, it looks good and promising, the limits are okay. I was initially concerned about lack of conditional formatting but that's been addressed and implemented.

I have a number of concerns. Firstly, it's too inflexible with fields having restrictions for length, I wouldn't be able to do some surveys with it as I'm unable to place the complete thought into the survey. Another concern is that there's not a lot you can do with responses and exporting them, there needs to be more options there (survey monkey comes to mind). Unique links integration and being able to see and filter what channels responses come from is vital for getting numbers on campaigns, using something else to do that adds an extra step so this part isn't a must I guess. Also there needs to be more options to have images in questions, etc. Customization for scale icons and overall more customization in general.

Any Roadmap? I know we can vote and submit suggestions but a concrete roadmap would be more confidence inspiring in the direction the service is going.

I've been playing around with the general settings and created my first survey. I was blown away with the results and analytics, notification of completed surveys, etc. I especially like being able to prevent multiple responses ("survey spamming") from the same browser. I wish this feature went a step further and blocked same user no matter what browser they used. The CNAME and white label feature is the icing on the cake. I would not have purchased this product without these features. Needless to say, this one is a keeper. Check out these screenshots in the order provided to give you sense of what I created:

This use case is not even a scratch on the surface. I simply started out with the basics because I needed a survey very quickly and can't wait to dive into the more advanced features. If you don't grab this one, you'll be missing out big time!!!

I ended up going back to get 2 more codes and have been very pleased with the ongoing development of the software. The growth in functionality has been great and as a solo dev Kirill does a good job keeping the platform moving forward. All my initial hopes have been implemented and I can see the next few I was hoping for are all on the roadmap.

Bought one code to test it for audience feedback on my latest theatre show.
The back end set up is pretty simple, love that I can upload my own images and the user experience is pretty slick.
I have been wanting to find a more engaging way to do surveys and get away from Google forms for a while so this is a breath of fresh air.

Things I would like to see:
- Would love to be able to create folders for storing my Surveys

- Love that I can add a logo, but would like a global branding option so it is automatically applied with the option to replace for other clients (or just a separate client section or workspace)

- The ability to save a Survey I make as a template

- An FAQ or user guide would be great. IT's not like it is super hard to use but would have saved me bugging support with questions.

That said Support were fast respond which was good too.

Overall I am thinking this will be a keeper.

Before buying, I created a free account to test it out and in a single test - They Had Me!!! I immediately purchased. They did have to redeem the code manually though, then I enhanced my quiz from the free version limits to more expanded.

✅ Love the options of the different types of questions (Swipe, NPS, Likert - although admittedly I had to Google what the latter two meant - LOL)
✅ I was able to add my own graphics, logo etc to customize
✅ You can collect data (name, email etc) but I haven't used that feature yet as my test was for my custom App in gauging user experience and that info isn't needed for this 1st survey.

👀 Not yet available is the option to customize/brand the color of the questions (currently can change the background color) - future update
👀 To clear response data from survey. Currently have to duplicate the survey, which is okay as you still have the history of the old. The reason this may not be an option though is to keep track of the # of responses and comments so I get it.
