May not be for everybody...

It seems strange that a software that creates instructions does not itself have any instructions to guide a new user on its platform. Fortunately, there are so few options in this minimalistic offering that it doesn't take long to figure it out alone.

For my use case (capturing and documenting software processes in a real estate environment), Opus Guide offers an incrementally helpful solution for my needs--although I'm not sure the process of making the instructions is saving enough time for me to consider it a significant improvement.

It does a fairly good job at providing a 'container' and flow in which to capture your screenshots, links, and explanatory text in one place and then creating a PDF that combines those elements. However, if one is already experienced in using Adobe Acrobat or other PDF maker, then I'm not sure it yet provides much more than a PDF creator already does.

The output of the captured images are fairly low resolution so there is some degradation when included in a presentation. The hyperlinks should open in a new tab instead of the current tab so you don't lose touch with the document (if viewing inside a browser tab). The platform has a Groups option, although I'm not even sure what the Groups consist of, as it's not explained. Including photos as steps in a process in a nice feature, but the photos need to be optimized/resized by the software or else the output pages will take several seconds (or longer) to load any high-res photo originals.

I believe there is a roadmap for this product, though I haven't seen what it is. I would suggest creator(s) decide in advance what the ideal/preferred use cases are for this tool and then focus on providing enhancements for those targets instead of trying to make something for just any general need.

I think Opus Guide definitely has a place among the spate of other solutions in this niche, but I'm afraid that for my needs, I won't be able to wait for the later developments that Opus Guide may have on its roadmap. But I do commend the creator's efforts thus far and wish you much success in the future!

Hi, thank you for the feedback.

You're right, our tool provides only marginal benefit over a simple word processor for documenting software processes. HOWEVER, in the coming weeks we're releasing a Chrome extension to automatically capture screenshots of processes in the browser.

Would you be willing to wait a few weeks for this extension?

Regarding other things:

- Image load speed is a known issue, and we are working on resolving it as soon as possible.

- Thank you for pointing out the lack of clarity regarding what "Groups" are. Groups can be thought of as folders for your instructions, allowing you to share a single link with multiple instructions (e.g. create a group related to workplace safety and share it ).

- We have a simple roadmap at [opus.nolt.io/roadmap]

We're constantly striving to make Opus Guide the best it can be. Would you be open to a quick Zoom call next week so we can get a better understanding of your use case?
