My Feedback on PaperGuide
Hi,
I tested the tool, and I am very satisfied with its features. Here is a detailed review:
Pros:
• Data extraction: The tool excels in data extraction. It allows users to quickly access relevant information, which is a real asset for researchers. The sidebar offers a convenient overview, and the "AI Summary" feature is particularly helpful for getting a general idea of a document in an instant.
• Reference management: The system is very efficient and supports APA 7 style, which I regularly use in my research. This is a great advantage for organizing my citations and bibliographic references.
• AI Writing: This tool is incredibly effective for advancing my scientific research. It generates well-structured texts and suggests references in an academic style.
• Chat with PDF: The "Chat with PDF" feature is very effective, especially when questions are asked in English. This provides precise and contextualized answers.
• Accessibility and user interface: Adding a column to organize data is simple and practical. The combination of several tools, such as those from Jenni AI or Afforai, makes this assistant an excellent choice.
Areas for Improvement:
• French language support: The tool is much more effective in English than in French. For example, when I ask a question about the limitations of a study in French, it may respond out of context (e.g., addressing the limitations of NGOs). However, in English, the response is much more relevant and precise, even though the document in question is in French.
• Column generation: When there are more than three columns, a horizontal scroll bar is missing, making navigation difficult.
• Reference management (in AI Writing's bibliography): References sometimes appear without a clear order (neither alphabetical nor by appearance in the article). An option to automatically sort or organize them into sections (e.g., books, webography) would be a real improvement, such as adding a filter.
• Integrated AI Writing and AI Chat: It would be convenient to have AI Chat directly in the AI Writer sidebar to perform searches without leaving the writing space.
• Reference generation: References generated in gray mode sometimes lack links to the bibliography. It’s necessary to search for them manually via "Ask AI" and verify them in "Citation" (a somewhat manual process).
This tool is an excellent companion for researchers. It doesn’t replace human expertise but serves as a valuable assistant for saving time and improving work quality. I am impressed by its capabilities and hope the tool continues to improve, particularly with better French language integration (a priority). This includes automatic language detection for documents and interaction in the same language. Similarly, in AI Writing, when clicking on "continue writing," it would be ideal for the text to follow the document’s language instead of defaulting to English. Congratulations to the team for this remarkable work! I look forward to discovering new features.
Best regards,

Dec 2, 2024Hi,
Thank you for the detailed review and feedback. Please find my comments below:
French is our immediate priority, and we will be adding support for French next week.
We are adding sorting, filtering options, and better URLs for citations in the writer. This feature should go live this week.
We have AI Chat integration in the writer in our immediate pipeline. This should be completed by the end of December.
