I fully understand the business logic behind that to make Pickaxe a sustainable business. Will former AppSumo lifetime deal users who upgrade to monthly plans in a year or two get e.g. some lifetime discounts? This could keep your business stable and attract more users now.

No good reply. No make sense buy a product for a lifetime and after be forced to buy a monthly subscription. This is the motive why I stop to buy this product here.

To bring some clarity to this thread:
If an Appsumo user has their own ChatGPT key, and OpenAI moves to version 5, 6, etc, and Pickaxe moves to support these new versions for their monthly users, would Appsumo customers using their own Key also be able to access version 5, 6, etc, assuming Pickaxe supports them normally for monthly users?
This would be how I interpret "All Gold Plan updates".

This sounds like a come on. I presume that most of the value of the monthly subscription is already included in the AS subscription. The incremental value of the latest AI will still cost the full monthly subscription. Is that right?

It seems like the strategy is to trap Appsumo users into paying monthly fees instead of supporting each other. I hope this folk is not igniting unnecessary issues.

Hi, so we bought a demo that, by the time new AI arrive, will already be outdated and we'll be forced to switch to the monthly plan after having paid for a lifetime deal?

I would like to point out that yesterday (July 18th) OpenAI added a new model: GPT-4o mini. Within a couple hours we had the model on the platform for all gold users and for ALL APPSUMO users. So believe us, whenever a model is affordable to offer, we will offer it.

I am also out because your plan is very clear. You said that "We make no guarantee that new models will be available to the AS deal folks, ...you'd just have to upgrade to a month-to-month plan".

You are still selling on AS so naturally will give access now while selling but no guarantees for the future simply means NO from a buyers perspective. You failed to address the questions raised about BYOK. You will even deny new models for those using BYOK? We will also have to move to a monthly plan? In light of that I must therefore assume this applies to BYOK. I will therefore Refund.

@Mike_from_Pickaxe...or @Nathaniel_Pickaxe. The question is out there and not answered. IF we have BYOK...will you support? It seems to me it's a fairly straightforward question. Seems to me if I have my own key, we should not be worried about the models as we are footing the bill.....correct????

Even if you have the OpenAI API key, you still have to wait for them to update to the latest model. So far, they haven't updated to gpt-4o-2024-08-06. Many software programs update very quickly within a few hours, but Pickaxe is not among them.

Why you should always read the comments

I COMPLETELY understand sunsetting the monthly credits for future versions. But you have to update the API for monthly paying customers anyway, so dropping support for AS is a decision they have already made. Appreciate the honesty here though. Glad I didnt buy.

Good thing I came across this comment. Other deals are much fairer. In a few months, no one will want to buy an outdated AI product. As a creator of an AI app, I buy a lifetime deal to benefit from it in the long run. What a shame!
