Bingo!

I just sent my first gold-level release using Press Ranger. Both my client and I am thrilled at just how easy it is to use, the automatic formatting to standards, the wholesale pricing, and the fun "As seen in" embed is freaking slick. Just added another license.

Five tacos with guac and sour cream!

The only Appsumo tool I've gone back and upgraded

The founder, Steve, is very helpful. His weekly newsletter is timely and very actionable, and even though I've only scratched the surface on what this tool can do, but I'm confident it will be a cornerstone for our little company as we grow. 10/10.

Press Ranger is a total game-changer for PR & backlinks

We’ve tried a lot of PR and outreach tools over the years, and Press Ranger is easily one of the smartest investments we’ve made.

What makes it stand out is how clean, fast, and actually usable it is. The journalist database is high-quality, filters are powerful, and the way it surfaces relevant media contacts saves an enormous amount of time compared to manual research or bloated PR platforms.

What really surprised us is how well it fits modern digital PR. You’re not just blasting emails — you’re building targeted outreach lists that make sense for your brand, niche, and story. It feels built for founders, marketers, and agencies who actually care about getting coverage instead of just sending volume.

The UI is smooth, onboarding is easy, and everything feels thoughtfully designed. No unnecessary complexity, no learning curve drama — just results.

If you’re doing PR, link building, or brand awareness seriously, this is one of those tools that pays for itself very quickly. We’d honestly buy it again without hesitation.

Highly recommended.

Press Ranger – Honest review from an Italian journalist & publisher

I purchased Press Ranger on AppSumo with high expectations, especially for media targeting and journalist discovery. Unfortunately, my experience has been largely disappointing, particularly for the Italian and European markets.

Main issues:

1. Extremely weak categorization
The category system is far too generic. “Travel” includes anyone who casually mentions traveling in their bio (e.g. “travelling when possible”), even if they are actually journalists covering economy, tech, politics, or general news.
There is no real editorial specialization logic, just keyword matching on bios.

2. Bio-based filtering is misleading
Because filters rely heavily on bio text, the results are full of false positives. This makes the platform unreliable for anyone who needs precise targeting (travel, food, tourism, lifestyle niches, etc.).

3. Not suitable for professional media relations
If you are a journalist, publisher, or PR professional who actually knows how editorial beats work, this tool quickly becomes frustrating. It may work for bulk or generic outreach, but not for quality-driven PR.

4. Very poor results for Italy
For the Italian market, the database is noisy and inaccurate. Many journalists included in “Travel Italy” lists clearly do not cover travel at all. This makes the tool unusable without heavy manual filtering outside the platform.

5. Very slow onboarding and updates
About a month ago, shortly after purchase, I sent detailed information about:

my Italian magazines

my professional profile as a journalist

They acknowledged everything and collected the data, but to date I see nothing live or updated on the platform. The response time and execution are extremely slow.

Conclusion:

Press Ranger might be usable for:

US or international generic outreach

bulk campaigns where precision is not critical

But for European markets (especially Italy) and for serious media relations work, it falls short. At this point, I am seriously considering requesting a refund.

Great tool for digital PR

I recently started working with a company to help them with their marketing and positioning in AI citations. Press Ranger was super helpful in creating a digital foot print for this. Steve jumped on a call with us and gave us a lot of helpful pointers. We stopped paying a PR agency because Press Ranger gave us the same results for half the price. I definitely recommend it if you have the need for digital PR. I hope the UK media database grows over time with lot more filtering options.
