Q: Does it transcribe meetings from another device.

Hi, could you clarify Prismical AI’s recording and transcription capabilities?

1. Can it record a meeting that is running on another device-for example, a Zoom/Teams/Google Meet call on my Windows PC or Mac-while Prismical runs on a separate phone or computer?
2. Does it provide a full, downloadable transcript and meeting summary after recording?
3. Does it support speaker recognition/diarization—i.e., distinguish different speakers and label each person’s contributions? Can users rename speaker labels?
4. Which platforms are supported: Windows, macOS, and Android? Are the features the same across all three?
5. Is such transcription processed locally/on-device, in the cloud, or can users choose either option?
6. Does it work for both online meetings and in-person conversations recorded through the device microphone?

Thank you.

A: Hi! Great questions!
1. Yes. Prismical can record a meeting playing on another device through its microphone. For the best quality, run the desktop app on the same computer as the meeting so it captures both your microphone and computer audio directly.
2. Yes. You receive the full transcript, AI summary, key points, and action items, which you can copy anywhere.
3. Prismical Cloud separates different voices, labels the speakers, and lets you rename them. Local transcription cannot separate every individual voice, but it can distinguish your microphone from the other participants coming through your computer audio.
4. We support Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android. Features are generally consistent within desktop and mobile, although mobile updates can arrive later because they require Apple and Google approval.
5. Desktop users can choose local or cloud transcription. Local keeps audio on your computer, while cloud transcription provides features like speaker identification and higher accuracy.
6. Yes. It works for both online meetings and in-person conversations.
