Hey there Sumo-lings! 

This is Amy with AppSumo 👋! 

We’re posting an update here to 1) let you know that we’ve received your reports regarding Ranktracker and 2) provide a summary of what’s occurred, along with the next steps we’re taking to protect our customers both in this instance and moving forwards.

Ranktracker’s announcement to suspend continuing support for Sumo-lings unless paid for and is in violation of AppSumo’s Partner Terms and their contract with us. Their inability to rectify this situation has led to our moratorium on any future partnerships or campaigns with this partner ❌. 

Once you purchase and redeem a lifetime deal, our policy with partners dictates that customers must retain access to that tool for the lifetime of the product. As long as the tool is still available, the partner has agreed you’ll have access to it. This agreement was broken in the case of Ranktracker and informed our decision to bar any future partnerships with this partner.

While we know how frustrating losing access to one of your favorite tools in your repertoire can be, we can't always guarantee the future of a specific tool or what might occur on the partner side of things.

When Ranktracker was featured in the store in 2021, our Partner contracts did not include an explicit clause requiring Partners to offer support for their tool(s) after their campaign ended. Thankfully, we have been very fortunate to work with high quality Partners dedicated to our shared mission in supporting aspiring entrepreneurs. Sadly, Ranktracker was not this kind of Partner.

Since 2021 we have implemented stronger language and stricter updates to our Partner contracts, which includes clauses requiring all Partners to support Sumo-lings both during and after their campaign. This means that Partners cannot abandon their support obligations. 

We thank you for your reports and coordination with our team on this!
