Private On-Device Dictation

Rhino was born out of a desire for truly private, on-device dictation. Noah Kagan developed the tool to leverage Whisper and Parakeet locally, ensuring every transcription and AI-based cleanup runs entirely on the user's Mac. By eliminating server dependencies—no accounts, logins, or telemetry—Rhino continues to function even offline. Users simply hold the Fn key, speak, and release to see text appear wherever their cursor sits. Though still early (version 0.1.0 launched on August 11, 2026), Rhino focuses on doing one thing exceptionally well: fast, private dictation. Rapid fixes and weekly updates reflect the founder's commitment to responsive improvement.
