What are past projects, failures, or successes you’ve had in your career?

I built Siebel Analytics which became Oracle Business Intelligence (OBIEE). I founded and led Birst.com to become a leader in cloud BI, ultimately acquired by Infor. But here's the failure that haunts me: we built amazing technology that only Fortune 500s could afford and implement. I watched countless smart businesses struggle with data while we served enterprises. That's why I started over with Scoop - same powerful analytics, but accessible to everyone. Previous success taught me what's possible; this mission is about making it accessible

What’s the origin of the idea for your product?

After building enterprise BI for Fortune 500s at Birst, I saw brilliant business leaders who were data rich but insight poor - they had all the tools but couldn't answer simple questions without waiting weeks for their data team.

What problem is your product solving and how?

Business teams wait weeks for simple data answers because analytics tools are either too simple (spreadsheets) or too complex (enterprise BI). Scoop bridges this gap by keeping the spreadsheet interface everyone knows while adding AI-powered analysis, multi-source integration, and one-click presentation creation. We turn 3-week report cycles into 30-minute insights.

What’s the #1 thing you’re looking to gain from the AppSumo campaign?

User-driven product validation and viral network effects. AppSumo's community will tell us exactly which features matter most, and our Slack integration means every happy user can introduce Scoop to their entire organization. We're betting on quality users over quantity - entrepreneurs who'll push our platform's limits and tell us how to make it indispensable.

What are your plans with the customers, cash, and learnings from the AppSumo campaign?

Customers: Build a passionate user community that drives our product roadmap. Every Sumo-ling gets a voice in what we build next.

Cash: Extend runway to reach profitability without dilutive funding, allowing us to stay focused on users, not investors.

Learnings: Identify the killer use cases we haven't imagined yet - AppSumo users are incredibly creative at pushing tools beyond their intended purpose.

Any details to clarify about the deal?

Important limits: AI features (Tier 3 only) are capped to ensure sustainability. 'Unlimited users' in Tier 3 means unlimited viewers; editor seats scale with your workspace limits. All tiers include our core connectors, but custom API connections are roadmapped for 2025.

Geographic note: Currently optimized for English-speaking markets. Full international support (including data localization) planned for 2026.
