Shows a lot of promise

I never thought I would need a transcription service until I started using them. Now I find them indispensable. For the most part, I find myself needing to take a lot of technical notes during calls. Often the transcripts are provided for me in Microsoft Teams. But this is only if the call is recorded, and only then if the call is initiated by me. Other times, customers will drive the call, and I won't have access to the material unless they provide it. This can be especially frustrating when I am also expected to provide meeting minutes as a function of the Project Management role. I mean - how do you pay attention so you can respond to the customer - AND take notes? It's tough, but having the calls transcribed is a big help.

I've used competing platforms in the past, and I will say they were better - but not by a lot. I took a recording off my cell phone that recorded audio from my laptop, and the results were still intelligible. There were a few errors - especially with people's names, or with technical terms - but that is to be expected. None of the other services manage those things well, either. Sometimes, a person's accent might be better managed in another service (for example, one person said "I sent a book..." but the service understood "I Santa buck"... BUT the issues are few and easily corrected. Overall, it was probably around 80% but would have been better if the recording wasn't so garbled in the first place.

The punctuation thing that others comment on? Meh... none of the transcription services do this well - and I mean NONE of them. Sure, it's nice to see a dot or a capital letter someplace, but it's still arbitrary and can be more confusing. I find the best way to deal with a transcript is to break it into chunks of 5-7 lines like a paragraph. This makes the text a bit easier to scan. Personally, that would be a huge win if that functionality was added. Just an option to add a line break after every 250 words... no one else does this.

We certainly need M4A compatibility. It is what my iPhone produces, and some of the other memo recorders. Plus the file size is much smaller. So, I vote +1 for that.

Overall, I see a lot of promise for the service. As the number of users reaches a critical mass, their AI engine will likely improve the accuracy, and the outputs will be much easier to work with. As it stands now, I'm happy to get behind these guys and get access to a decent, time saving tool in the process.

Good luck!

Hey,

This review is golden!

It's very important for us to understand how and why our users use Scribbbe, it helps us better shape the future of the platform, so thank you.

We're working on a dictionary feature to improve technical words and names, which should greatly improve accuracy.

Good idea to chunks into paragraphs, I'll add that to the roadmap!

M4A as well as many other formats were added a few days ago.

Thanks for your energy and positivity, we are happy to help save you time and will continue to do so as much as possible.

Thanks for joining the journey.
