Q: How this is different?
Currently i am using deepseek or chatgpt to help me with my excel and google sheet at no cost. How is this different? I believe SheetXai also use the same ai through BYOK.

Edited Feb 24, 2026A: Hey, great question and I'll be honest with you — if you're just using the AI chat itself, yes, it's similar. But the difference is everything around it.
Think about what you actually have to do when you use ChatGPT for a spreadsheet task. You have to copy your data, paste it in, describe what you want, get a response, then manually make the changes — or download a file and re-import it. And if your sheet changes, you start over. That back and forth adds up fast, especially on anything complex.
With SheetXAI, the AI is right inside your spreadsheet. You just tell it what to do and it does it directly — no copying, no pasting, no downloading, no re-importing. Plus, SheetXAI is trained ONLY on spreadsheet operations. Now, add to it all the extra features that we have and it becomes pretty apparent why we are necessary.
The other big thing worth knowing: when you use the ChatGPT chat interface, OpenAI's terms allow them to train on your conversations including any data you paste in. So if you're sending spreadsheet data through the regular chat, that data can be used to train their models. The API (which is what SheetXAI uses) has a completely different policy — no training on your data.
And yes, with BYOK you can bring your own API key for DeepSeek, ChatGPT, or others — so you're not locked in.
Thanks David for your reply.
I actually use Deepseek or Cgpt regularly to help develop app scripts for my google sheet. This SheetXai doesn't really have capability to create app script?
Secondly, when you said "The API (which is what SheetXAI uses) has a completely different policy — no training on your data." That means, it will not learn and get to know me better and better for future task?

On Apps Script — yes, SheetXAI absolutely has that capability. There's an Apps Script mode built right into the chat bot. When you switch to that mode, instead of making changes directly to your sheet, it generates the Apps Script code for you to use however you want. That said, most of the time you don't even need to go that route — you can just tell SheetXAI what you want done and it'll do it

On the training question — good clarification to make. What that means is OpenAI is not using your spreadsheet data or your conversations to train their models. Your sensitive data stays yours.

However, you're right that this also means it won't "remember" you from session to session and get to know your preferences over time — that's actually a separate feature called memory, and it's something we're actively working on bringing to SheetXAI very soon. For now, each session starts fresh, but that's on the roadmap.
Thanks David. Regarding the app script, actually my job involved several inputs from users through form submission where the inputs will be inserted into the google sheet automatically, and then the app script will process the data further through formula and other automation and automatically combine the data for pivot table & Vlookup, and then automatically draw the graph. I normally use Cgpt.

Ah i see. Frankly, if you already have appscripts set up that run perfect automations, the real question would be, what would SheetXAI be able to do for you? Here are some things: Content gen, connection with integrations like wordpress, woocommerce and others, Data extraction, and many more features on the way. But, i also don't want to pressure you into buying something you don't need.
