Deja vu of tools that promise a lot and disappoint even more

I think I've lost count of the tools I've tested for generating ads through analysis and/or cloning competitor ads. They all promise a lot and disappoint even more. And Skaler, for now, isn't much different. It promises a lot, promises to make ad creation easier, but delivers little, TBH.

Flaws:
– Similar brands and Top picks show ads that don't match the brand.
– Spied brands works, as long as you don't clone ads.
– The image ad cloning mechanism is ridiculous: it has difficulty identifying the text in the original ad, it doesn't use brand assets. It's completely useless. I'm even afraid to test it with video. So far, I've only wasted credits and time.

I was careful to ask before investing in Skaler if being in a niche area and in a small country could influence the results. For now, the generative part is very weak. The analysis section is interesting and somewhat useful, perhaps an overrated dashboard, but it addresses some of the shortcomings of working with Meta and its awful software ecosystem.

It's not enough for the expectation created and for what I need it to do. I hope to return to this review and improve it, because for now it's just disappointing.

Hi Empower — thanks for taking the time to write such detailed feedback. I completely understand the frustration if the experience didn’t match the expectations.

A couple quick clarifications:

Top Picks aren’t meant to match your specific brand — it’s a curated feed of ads by category that show strong performance signals and longevity from real brands (often running significant budgets).

Similar Brands are matched from brands already in our database. When the niche or country is very specific, matches can be weaker — that’s exactly why BrandSpy exists, so you can import the brands you actually want to track and get their full ad feed.

For ad cloning, what you described definitely doesn’t sound right. The system should detect the text and use brand assets when available. If it failed repeatedly, that’s something we want to investigate because it’s usually fixable.

Could you send your Skaler account email to [email protected]
and mention this review? I’ll personally check what happened in your cloning flow and see what went wrong.

Appreciate the note on Creative Analytics — glad that part has been useful.

Happy to dig into the issues with you to get everything working as intended. 🙏
