Q: Question about EU VAT handling (Hotmart / Lemon Squeezy)
Recently purchased a Skillplate tier and I’m evaluating it for selling online courses in Europe. I really like the application — it’s very intuitive and well designed for course creators
Until now, we used Stripe, but we can no longer continue with it due to EU VAT complexity
As of this year, non-EU companies selling digital products (such as online courses) to EU customers must declare and remit VAT based on the buyer’s country. The threshold is low and easily exceeded, which creates significant administrative work and fiscal risk
Our current solution is to use platforms like Hotmart or Lemon Squeezy, which act as merchant of record: they collect, declare, and remit VAT, and the seller receives the net amount
Is there currently — or planned in the roadmap — an integration with Hotmart or Lemon Squeezy to fully delegate EU VAT management?

Dec 22, 2025A: This is going to be near the top of our agenda next year. We will have a solution for this 100%. It is absolutely inevitable. Merchants of record are too expensive. We will provide a better option.
Right now everything is treated as VAT included. And stripe has a service called stripe tax that makes it much easier for accountants to handle everything.
