Yes, It's That Good
I know you Sumolings are busy like I am, so I'll make this review short and sweet. Skillplate is good. Really good.
I went all in with Tier 5 and the 0% commission add-on. While I have almost every LMS that has come through Appsumo and many more that have not, I wasn't completely put off at the price. It is expensive, but I have a good amount of content and an audience, so I opted to be safe in case things continue to scale. I think the founder said it best in response to a Q&A that if you're just starting out and testing the waters, you could probably do Tier 2 and be fine. I appreciate that level of candor.
I'll start with the web builder, which is clean and intuitive. My company's main website was tossed together on a Saturday 6-7 years ago using the Simvoly LTD and it looks like it. Since business has gone pretty well for me since I started out, I never needed to invest time in revamping my site because my word-of-mouth referrals carried me. When I saw Skillplate examples and heard about the ease of use for the builder, I thought this could be the low barrier to entry I need for a website refresh. After tinkering with things for the past 5 days, I'm happy with how my design is coming along. There are more advanced builders out there, but this gives you something that looks a few steps better than Lindo AI. I can live with that.
Adding products is a breeze. I've added some of my free downloads to the platform and can easily feature them on the website with the click of a button. It's impressive how it all fits together. I've even peeked at the course builder, but there's work I need to do with my content before I'm ready to fully put that part of the system through the paces.
I'm just scratching the surface, but I feel this platform might have legs. I'm encouraged that the founders are seemingly committed to it and our success. Speaking of the founders, Dimitar is thorough and very responsive. I hope he keeps this cadence up after the LTD ends and the hard work really begins.
If you're on the fence, give it a try. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
