Q: Hi,
I understand that Skyblue Analytics helps with trading options.
For trading stocks directly, what features are available other than stock comparison - is there a screener, buy/sell recommendation for short term/long term and any specific strategies provided for stocks? In Youtube demo videos, I found a section 'Equity Tools' but couldn't find much details about stock trading. Please advise how Skyblue Analytics can be used for trading stocks (without going for options).
Thank you for your questions. Many of our tools and features are designed to assist with equity trading. Our Portfolio Backtester allows you to thoroughly test the performance of a portfolio over a specified period using historical market data. This tool supports rebalancing rules and enables you to compare the performance against benchmarks like the SPY. As you mentioned, the Stock Compare and Ticker Information features allow you to explore and compare fundamental data between tickers.
Additionally, our Forecast feature, which is based on our proprietary machine-learning algorithm, provides predictions on how each ticker might perform over spans of 10, 20, 30, and 60 days, making it relevant for both long and short-term investments. However, it's important to note that these suggestions should not be used in isolation, as the predictive accuracy of our Forecast can vary between tickers and is influenced by market conditions and events.
Another feature, the Ticker List Performance, enables you to quickly assess price performance information for a large number of tickers within a specific market cap or sector, or for your own custom lists of tickers. Finally, the platform's homepage offers many market data rankings that can aid in stock trading, along with information on upcoming dividends and earnings reports, which are neccessary to consider in stock trading strategies.
Thank you Seb, for the detailed explanation. It would be good to add a screener based on the Forecast feature. e.g., screen stocks that have bullish forecast for 60 days. Any plans to add such new features for stocks in the roadmap?
A: Hi Misty, sorry for that. You can put any info. This is just for QuoteMedia to be compliant with OPRA, the entity that regulates options. We understand your situation. Please let me help you with anything, write to me at smusso@skyblueanalytics.com
I purchased a code this morning set it up and used the market scan. I ended up getting some advice that was contradictory and executed the trade. I reached out to support and the agent gave me some information that is concerning to me. Iβve quoted that below. These two quotes are suggesting that this tool does not do the things the marketing materials suggest. Iβm trying to get a better understanding of what my expectations should be.
Quote 1: I apologize if any of the material was confusing, I will forward this to our team any ask them to review it. Please know that the PoP is not a prediction, it is merely a statistical calculation, based on current volatility and prices. Usually, traders use it as a measure of how likely the trade is to succeed if market conditions remain the same.
Quote 2: I'm sorry ff the results of the PoP and forecast seem contradicting, but they are two different things. The PoP is not a prediction on how likely the trade is to turn a profit, it should be interpreted as how risky the trade is going forward, if conditions remain the same. For example, a Long Put with a strike price far off the money has a very low PoP, because if volatility remains the same the stocks will likely not fall that far.
A: Hi Sumoling, Thank you for your question. This is an excellent opportunity to clarify the difference between the Probability of Profit (PoP) of a strategy and the suggestions of our forecast. The PoP of an options strategy is a trend-agnostic calculation that does not indicate whether the asset's price will rise, fall, or remain constant. It simply assumes the price movement is random. In simpler terms, it indicates the likelihood of profiting from the strategy if prices moved randomly, given a certain level of volatility. However, in reality, asset prices do not fluctuate randomly. Many traders spend their days identifying and predicting these trends. This is where our forecast comes into play; it employs a complex machine learning algorithm to predict whether the price change will be biased upwards or downwards and whether volatility will increase or decrease. Needless to say, although we are very proud of our forecast's predictive power, it is not infallible and may perform inconsistently! I hope this explains the difference between the two. The PoP% and the suggestions from our forecast inform about two completely different aspects. If you have any further questions or doubts about any metric on our platform, please feel free to make another question. You can also contact me directly at smusso@skyblueanalytics.com. Thanks a lot for using our platform! Best regards, Seb.
Q: Hi,
We saw crypto has been mentioned, what are your plans to include crypto?
Will it be available free in the current offering when available?
And what type of features could crypto traders and investors expect to see by using Skyblue Analytics and is it reasonable to expect that crypto becomes available?
Thank you for your questions. Crypto was mentioned in the publication because our integrated broker, TradeStation, previously offered crypto trading. However, they have recently discontinued their crypto services. While I cannot speak on their behalf, I understood that they cited the uncertain regulatory environment surrounding crypto, and the increasing availability of crypto-related ETFs, which offer alternative, more regulated investment options in crypto, as some of the reasons for their decision.
That said, we recognize the interest traders have in crypto and are considering the inclusion of crypto-related investment tools or adapting existing ones for crypto use in the future. These tools would of course be accessible through this deal. We plan to offer crypto related tools in 9 months from now.
1, What are the impacts of having Delayed Data Plan (from not logging in for 6+ months) if we are currently not logged in to gather insights? 2. Perhaps, I don't grasp fully all of your platform features. Can you tell what features of your platform will be impacted from having delayed data plan? Perhaps any features that run in the background without us logging in, that will affect the customer from having delayed data plan. 3. Upon relogging back, will the Real Time Data Plan be automatically restored? Or do I need to press/set something in order to swtich back to Real Time Data Plan?
Your questions are not at all stupid! The downgrade to delayed data will not impact anyone taking this deal. While it's true that some of our tools are affected by the delayed data, as you correctly guessed, the inactivity downgrade should almost immediately revert to real-time data upon logging back in. The rationale behind this measure is the significant cost associated with providing real-time data to each user.
If you have any questions about how any of our tools work, please don't hesitate to ask here, on the platform, or you can reach out to me directly at smusso@skyblueanalytics.com.
A: Hi Rylle_Tee! Thank you for your question. We offer tools suitable for both investing and trading. If your interest is in long-term investment portfolios, you might find our Backtester and fundamental data tools very useful. If you are more interested in trading, our Market Scan and Ticker Scan are fantastic tools for options trading. You could even invest long-term with options if you know what to look for! We provide educational materials on how various strategies work, if you would be interested in that.
Q: Hi, Can you tell when you shall be able to add the Indian stock and indexes to your platform and if I buy ...
this tool now how it will help me in Indian stock market and finally algo treding is possible through this tool after connecting to local broker. Thanks
A: Hi Summoling! The Indian market is one of our primary targets for expansion, and we internally aim to cover it by the end of the third quarter this year. However, we cannot guarantee that all our tools will have the same functionalities for the Indian market, as we have not yet entered negotiations with Indian data providers. Currently, we are integrated only with TradeStation for brokerage services, but our investment analysis tools are designed to be used independently of a broker. This means you can analyze strategies with our tools and then implement them with your preferred broker. If you have any other questions, you can message me directly, or post another in AppSumo, if you wish to share the answer with everyone. smusso@skyblueanalytics.com
Context: I got my own defined rules for setups & risk management (as every single profitable trader I know) but I started to get interested in hedging larger Swing trades using Options - but lack of finding the right way to do it (for risk management purposes / to reduce potential loss of my swing or simply to even got a "cheap" alternative into the opposite direction running. Is that possible with you (without dumping my own tools = fetch data from you to enrich my own data to tune my own strategies)?
A: Hi nl8! Thank you for providing context; understanding the use cases traders are interested in is valuable to us. Although Market Scan and Ticker Scan seem like the kind of tool you need, we currently do not offer an API, and it's unlikely we'll implement one this year. However, any new features we add to the platform will be made available to customers who have purchased a lifetime subscription through AppSumo. Please consider trying us out to if you are interested in evaluating the capabilities of our tools! Any feedback would be much appreciated.
