Q: How does this compare to Infinitunes?

Also, how much of a change to the original piece of music needs to be done in order to claim ownership of it? How would I mark my new music piece with my own copyright?

A: Hi SocialImpact, thanks for your questions!

I’m not familiar with them so can’t fully comment but a quick scan of their website looks like users have to combine their songs with videos in order to download it, there are differences in how and where you can use the songs, with soundpiece you get access to the raw music files as well which you can then edit and there seems to be differences in what the music sounds like and how it is generated.

In terms of copyrights. In order for you to own the copyright of songs originally generated by soundpiece, you will need to change the songs sufficiently so that when people listen to your new song, they don't think it is the same song as the original. It is difficult to give an exact rule of how much a song needs to change but by changing some of the notes or rhythms or the audio sounds used or incorporating it into a larger original song should sufficiently change it so that it sounds like a different song.
