Q: I used to have a license for AIVA and currently use the Orb Producer plugin.

So I was always going to pick this up when I found it!

Couple of quick questions/thoughts:

-Licensing terms seem a lot more restrictive than the two named above. I have read that this may change in the future, but until then, if I do not edit the music am I still able to use the composition in work done for a client (music for an ad, background music in a video, music in the background of a social media post)? Or would I need to make it part of a composition?

-What classes as part of a wider composition by your terms? This isn't clear in the EULA. I usually used AIVA for the chord progression ideas and sometimes the melody or rhythm of some of the instruments. But it was usually the starting point and I used Band in a Box, Captain Plugins and other software to complete the track. However, if I liked the track as a whole, would adding a lyrics and a vocal be enough to class as a wider composition or would I need to go as far as adding additional elements to the backing track?

-Are there plans to allow options to choose a key? I would like the option to choose a chord progression as well, but I recognise that would likely be even harder!

-I always liked the screen in AIVA which allowed direct editing of the generated song and displayed the chord progression. Is something like this in the VST? If not, that's no issue because I could just take the midi file into my DAW.

I have been impressed with the quality of the compositions so far. When I first got AIVA it produced about 1 in 5 or so that were usable, this did improve significantly over time. I'd say this seems to be better than 1 in 5, which is very impressive at this stage of development. I look forward to seeing how this improves.

A: Hi Richard, thanks for your great questions and feedback!

To answer your questions:

- Licensing terms: Yes, you can absolutely use the music as background music for clients without having to change it. There will be no royalty charges on the songs.

- What classes as part of a wider composition: As long as the new song sounds like a different/unique song compared to the original one soundpiece created, that should be enough. So, adding lyrics and vocals can work. Including additional instruments or changing some of the sounds and effects using the midi files will also work.

- Options to choose a key. At the moment in the browser version there is the option to select between major / minor keys and we are adding more key functionality in future. Using the inspire plugin, you will have more granular control of the key.

- Editing screen: Currently, we try to keep the UI really simple and easy to use and give users flexibility by allowing them to download the midi files to edit in their own DAW if they want more control. We are, however, working on added editing functionality in the browser version of soundpiece.

Thank you for your reply. Really helpful and has resolved any of the concerns I had over the licensing. I will definitely be checking out the plugin subscription moving forward.
