Very Exciting Software
I was very uncertain about buying this at first. I could see the potential, but initial tests didn't match up to what I was getting from Google's free music AI. The licensing was confusing as well (as licensing usually is in the world of music!) I fired over a few questions which were answered quickly and in detail, so I thought why not take the plunge.
As a hobby I do a little bit of music composition and sequencing. But most vitally, I need background music for videos. I used to use AIVA as my go-to, but I had moved away from it due to the amount of work needed to make an AIVA composition not sound like an AI song in the styles I need. I hoped that this would be the answer I was looking for.
I decided that this month would be all about testing it, seeing how to get the best out of it and then next month I would start using it properly. Honestly, I've already burned through almost 2000 credits churning out different styles. If you prompt it right, the quality of the songs you get are absolutely unbelievable. I think in terms of using it as a full backing track generator (at least, in commercial pop/rock/dance) it isn't quite there. You can't easily get an verse-chorus-verse-chorus structure and you can't guide towards a specific chord progression either. Plus there's often a little "too much" going on in the music to add a vocal to it as well (although with the stem separation options, this might not be too much of a problem). But for backing music to a videos/adverts, or for getting a short loop to add to a track - or for full EDM style tracks, this is more than capable of providing something usable first time.
And if you're willing to spend the time slicing parts of the track up and editing it together into a full song, there's no doubt that this could speed up the process composing a full backing track as a start of the songwriting process.
Very happy with this purchase and excited to see how this software develops over the next few months.
