Brilliant UX and integrations. Well-designed and mostly-polished product.

This is the first time I've written a review on AppSumo. The product is so good it deserves some rave reviews, so I felt compelled to write one.

I was about to buy a second Hedy LTD (brilliant product), but then I discovered Spellar, and so far it appears to offer a far superior experience that far exceeds its capabilities AND user experience.

What's brilliant:

1. Mac toolbar calendar widget showing meeting time remaining, upcoming meetings list, and trigger to record
2. The ability to pre-assign templates to meetings in advance of them happening in the calendar view
3. The ability to import recordings manually
4. The transcript view where you can visually navigate the transcript and adjust speaker diarization if you wish
5. The ability to choose local model options vs cloud transcription model
6. 'Out of the box' notes/meeting templates (I tested using Gemini free tier)

What would make it better:

0. Clarity on usage limits for 'AI Chat' or live meeting chat
1. Support cheaper and local models for transcript summaries/analysis (e.g. Qwen, GLM, Gemma) - like Hedy
2. Option for configuring more specific destination or even automatic export of tasks BASED ON MEETING TEMPLATE
3. Drag and drop support for organizing notes/meetings into folders, and folders into folders (e.g. for subfolders), and the same for applying tags
4. More options for mass-applying changes (e.g. to a selection of notes/meetings)
5. Some reporting on token usage by feature, so we can make smart choices about configuration of templates and use of chat

Two issues:

So far I haven't been able to find/access the floating 'AI Copilot' window showing live notes / transcript? (like Hedy - that'd be cool) and the ability to 'chat' with an LLM using transcript so far as context. If this feature works well, this could fully replace Hedy.

The Obsidian export isn't working for me.

There don't seem to be any options for choosing *where* or *how* in your notes are saved in Obsidian or Google Docs (only notes are saved, rather than original transcript).

I really hope The Spellar AI team succeed.

Wow, this genuinely made our day — thank you for taking the time to write this, especially as your first AppSumo review.

It means a lot to hear how it translates into a real experience, which is exactly the kind of feedback that keeps us going.

Your feature requests are noted and honestly well-articulated. Local model support for summaries, smarter task export tied to templates, drag-and-drop folder organization — these are conversations we're actively having. You've clearly pushed the product far enough to know where the edges are.

We really appreciate the support. More good things are coming.
