Q: I was wondering if you could implement querystring parameters into the shortlinks to dynamically pass onto the destination URL.
The use case would be for affiliate links that are coming in from different websites for the same product sales page. Good for tracking where your leads are coming in from multiple sources or platforms.
For example,
sqr.co/tshirt?fr=web --> spongebob.com?affid=23&source=web
sqr.co/tshirt?fr=web2 --> spongebob.com?affid=23&source=website2
sqr.co/tshirt?fr=soc --> spongebob.com?affid=23&source=socialmedia
sqr.co/tshirt?fr=twi --> spongebob.com?affid=23&source=twit
So within my spongebob.com affiliate dashboard, i can see the incoming links and know where they're coming from.
I hope that makes sense.
Hey,
That is an interesting idea to make them more dynamic, but I don't think we will be adding it since the short links are also used for QR codes and this would change the QR code image + the tracking of where the traffic is coming from is saved in the SQR analytics dashboard, but not sure if this would help you.
However, we're building UTM templates that you can add to the short links/QR codes. And currently have the option of adding tracking pixels to the short links.
Thanks for the detailed question!
Btw is this what you mean:
Destination URL : http://test.com?a=1
Shorten URL : https://sqr.co/y6gh7ovk
Shorten URL + param : https://sqr.co/y6gh7ovk?a=2
Destination URL : http://test.com/?a=1&a=2
So when you add parameters to the short link also give them to the destination URL?
