Q: Rachit, I looked at your site but still was not able to understand what is the purpose of each power up, ...

what can each of them do which can't be done in core platform and why? It will be really helpful if you can list what can be done in core platform minus power ups. Also why don't you include power ups in core platform under one of the regular plans. Any specific reason?

What future features can I expect in personal plan and what will be separately developed as power ups. De we Sumolings get any special discount on one time purchase of power ups? Can I expect features enrichment with purchase of multiple codes or not?

A: Hi Sunaina,

There's different purposes to each powerup. Please check these video playlist to understand what each one does: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogFTQZsoOcg&list=PLgHggE5lv3GrLDXAbKI9cCckBpB33hk2V

These are additional set of features and superpowers on top of the Stackby platform. We've spent considerable time in building those Powerups and each Powerup is an additional cost for us to run at scale for tens of thousands of users. So hence, it's a separate add-on for a one time-cost.

All core features will be added to the platform irrespective of the plan you're on. The powerups price is already heavily discounted and standardized for all AppSumo users.

Thanks,
Rachit

Rachit,

I watched all powerups playlist on YouTube. So this means even Excel and Google Sheet import and export function is restricted and doesn't work till someone buys power ups. Similarly to add new CSV file data to existing table, I will need CSV data append powerup. Then to update column data as fetched by API, I will need autoschedule API column type. Then to share read only view a team member or customer I need to use share filtered view powerup. To add a stack to Google drive, I will need Sync Stackby with Google drive powerup, Then to color code a stack and view it in different format like Kanban using conditional logic, I need conditional color formatting powerup. Similarly to lock a view and to not allow a viewer to edit, I need locked views powerup, you tell me without this how will embedding on webpage even work?

Restrict views by email domain can be managed by building different stacks for different audience so at least there is some way around it. Then to avoid data redundancy I need Deduplication powerup, although I don't think every scenario will require merging based on title names but definitely rows merging is basic necessity in platform to avoid data redundancy

This all goes back to my basic question, then what your core platform does? This means anything will be introduced only as powerup. If this is a case then Appsumo has not done proper due diligence and protected their customer base in context of this deal, yes they may moderate this comment based on this one line but to be honest they shouldn't. If product creators are important then money of sumolings is important as well otherwise in long run Appsumo itself will loose credibility which is most important for long term business sustainability. Small and medium business owners (including myself) have lot of respect for Appsumo and we rely on due diligence of Appsumo team since many of us lack resources or technical knowledge to thoroughly judge a product based on founder's claims.

Rachit you haven't provided full information or complete disclosure. You should have stated clearly, the core platform can't do even basic functions without powerups and that is what our business approach is, to introduce every new feature as powerup. Everything else can be done in free and more stable tools like Google sheets and Excel. For example, lets say tomorrow you will build data visualizations, that will be another powerup with another price of $ 79 or $ 158. Then even data visualizations can be segregated based on type of visualization and there can be power up for each type, so no end to this approach. A better business strategy would have been to offer this deal on higher but consistent price with everything included to avoid confusion.

Most of the sumolings haven't understood this product properly, the core platform is skeleton which can't provide any value at all without powerups.

Hi Suzanne,

Not a right way to put information about Powerups like this.

Powerups are additional set of features on top of the Stackby platform and allows to you manipulate, share data in new ways. It does not have to do anything with the core platform offerings where you can continue to import your data from excel, CSV, google sheets (despite of it being added to Powerups) and build your custom databases.

The core platform already has over 25+ column types, 6+ views, endless customizations, real-time collaboration with checklists, reminders, commenting, all column linked API connectors, integrations and much more. Powerups are only additional set of features on top of the platform, not the platform itself.

You don't need Powerups to embed data on the webpage, that has nothing to do with the embeds. You can still embed view or stack on any webpage without the Powerups.

Powerups only allow for granular permissions at views, appending, deduplication, conditional color formatting etc. that are additional features. You can still very much use Stackby without it and create your way.

Hope this clarifies the confusion.
