A very useful tool

I spend a lot of time optimising videos for myself and clients, and adding chapters is more time-consuming than I'd like. I've been trying to use ChatGPT for some of my video optimisation work (titles, summaries), but it's kinda hopeless and often frustrating.

I compared the output of VidChapter with a video I manually optimised last week, and although it put chapters in different places from where I did, I'm not unhappy with the results, and would consider using them pretty much as is (although I'd like them to be sentence case instead of title case). I'll definitely be trying this out more over the coming weeks and seeing how much I can just use without changing.

I also explored the other features and was especially impressed with the blog post and email content it generated, and the tag generation is also quite handy. The short descriptions were also very helpful, as I need content for my videos in multiple locations. I'll probably use parts of the five that were returned to put together my final descriptions. I also expect to make good use of the tweets for social media posting

The long description was OK, and I might pull pieces of it out, but I'd need a lot more control over the exact content (e.g. remove "like and subscribe", add in specific details and standard blocks of text) before I'd be willing to just copy and paste. The video scripts aren't too bad, but I don't see myself using them just yet. The "YouTube" one wasn't much longer than the "Shorts" one, so I don't quite see the difference yet.

The titles were pretty much on par with what ChatGPT spat out, so I'll have to stick with writing my own for now. The quotes/highlights and YouTube text were pretty much just more titles, so they didn't add much for me.

I had a brief issue where the results would not generate and just failed, or it would get into an infinite loop of page refreshing, but support were very responsive and provided a working solution promptly. My credits were also consumed (or not) correctly in this instance.

Some user experience things I'd like to see improved:
- The account creation process was unnecessarily complicated (get email, request reset, then wait again). [Note: This was when I tried to create a free trial account using a different email address, not when I bought through AppSumo, that process was seamless.]
- Wouldn't accept a password more than 20 characters (I use 30 routinely)
- The constant page refreshing every time you do something is a bit annoying
- The dropdown selections don't show in the interface once you've selected something, so you don't know what you're generating
- Would like to be able to switch between content sub-types more easily e.g. long and short descriptions, blog and email post content etc
- Would like to be able to see at a glance what you've already generated
- Would like to see how many credits I have left at all times
- Would like an easier way to copy out all titles at once as plain text
- Would like to be able to copy out chapters without all of the surrounding fluff
- Would like to be able to set a default tone and style, rather than having to set it for every single video

But these are minor issues as far as I'm concerned. Overall, this tool is going to be very useful for my work and a valuable addition to my toolkit. I will definitely be keeping VidChapter.

Now all I have to do is decide whether to stack another code ;)
