The Tool I Didn't Know I Needed

I write technical documentation frequently and had been using another app for a long time to create screenshots (one at a time) which was very time consuming.

A friend of mine told me about a browser extension that can take screenshots based on each mouse click. It wasn't Stepsy, and I'm not kidding the day I tried the one my friend suggested is the day that Stepsy launched on Appsumo. I made my purchase before there were even any reviews.

The other tool that has been around for a long time couldn't even capture inside of the WordPress page builder I use, but in Stepsy it all works great, especially since support was able to add compatibility to make it even better.

I'm blown away by the great support Stepsy offers. They have really gone out of the way to make sure I'm a happy user, and have already made the app better based on my feedback.

I'm looking forward to seeing where this tool goes, but it has already saved me a TON of time.

Here are the top things I like about Stepsy:
1) Takes step by step screenshots as I go through the steps.
2) It creates the text for each screenshot
3) Each screenshot is editable after you take it, or come back at the end before saving/exporting to make edits. Currently you can highlight things, draw lines, and boxes around things so the person viewing can see and focus on those areas.
4) You can edit the text on each step now (it's a new feature that just came out if I'm not mistaken).
5) There is a blur feature that you can use BEFORE you even start recording where you can choose what parts of your screen you do not want to have captured.
6) Export to Google Docs - This puts all the steps in a Google Doc that you can edit and share (if you want).
7) You can export as an HTML document which also includes a folder that contains all the full size images - this is what I like to use since I have to write and publish articles separately.

There are a few things I would like to see in future updates, which they already confirmed to me that they'll look into.
1) Cropping - either automatically when the screenshot is taken or give the ability to crop the image in the image editor after all images are captured.
2) Arrows - I have to have arrows to point to the steps. I do like the boxes that are automatically created, but an arrow would be awesome as that is what I need to use.
3) More export options, such as HTML export to Dropbox or other cloud services (instead of sending it to my computer where I then have to upload to dropbox).
4) Integration with WordPress where it can export to WordPress as a draft post using the default WordPress block editor - this would be super amazing since that is where I publish guides.

As I mentioned, I'm looking forward to seeing what Stepsy does in the future. So far I'm impressed.

For the price of this deal, it's a no-brainer to get this.

5 Tacos :-)
