Disappointing Experience with Storipress

I was excited to try Storipress after reading about its features and the promise of streamlining my editorial workflow that I got tier 3. However, my experience has been far from satisfactory.

Pros:

The interface is visually appealing at the time of launch.
The concept of a unified workspace for content management is promising.
Cons:

Performance Issues: The platform is incredibly slow and often unresponsive. Simple tasks like scheduling content or using the drag-and-drop interface can take an inordinate amount of time.

Buggy AI: The AI content generation feature is hit or miss. Sometimes it produces decent content, but more often than not, the output is nonsensical and requires extensive editing.

API Integration Problems: The API integration never worked for me. Despite multiple attempts and following the documentation, I couldn't get it to function properly. What's worse, this issue was never acknowledged by the support team. It felt like they were ignoring a critical problem that significantly affected my ability to use the platform effectively. This was going on for over 6 months.

Limited Customization: Despite the promise of customizable theme blocks, the actual customization options are quite limited. It feels more like a template-based system rather than a truly flexible design tool.

Poor Customer Support: When I encountered issues, the customer support was slow to respond and not very helpful. It felt like they were more interested in selling the product than in resolving customer problems.

Overall: Its obvious looking back that it was destined to shut down their doors, the announcement was just a formality.

The Shutting down of Storipress Leaves Us in Limbo. We feel dumped!

Storipress was one of the best products I've ever purchased on AppSumo, a true gem. But yesterday, I was shocked to get an email saying that Storipress is closing down. The news was a huge blow, leaving us very upset and looking for explanations.

We built our entire press business on Storipress, investing countless hours and resources. We have several ongoing projects that now hang in the balance. To learn that Storipress is closing just a year after purchasing the highest-tier deal feels like a cruel betrayal.

This isn't just about the money; it's about the blood, sweat, and tears we poured into building our site. The team behind Storipress seems to have abandoned us months ago, shifting their focus to developing Prophet and now some other coming project, based on the email they sent. This is an unacceptable and heart-wrenching blow to loyal users like us. We feel abandoned.

My faith in AppSumo LTD has been shattered. It feels like we can be cast aside without a second thought, and that's an unfairness we cannot overlook. We hope Appsumo can do something about this, like compensation, etc.

The Hit and Run Story: Sumolings Left in the Dust by StoriPress!

I'm really confused about Storipress shutting down.

I went all in with their Tier 3 plan for $299, minus the 10% AppSumo Plus discount, just 15 months ago.

If they had announced this in early May, it would have been covered by the AppSumo Purchase Protection Policy.

First, they totally left us Sumolings out of their Prophet project.

They haven't answered a single question from the Q&A section since StoriPress left AppSumo in April 2023.

This platform had so much potential with its amazing Kanban organization and easy full-on customization. Tier 3 gave us pretty much everything unlimited.

But I doubt the Storipress team just decided to sunset the platform today.

They have probably known it for a few months now.

It looks like their AppSumo LTD was a quick cash grab, then they put all their time, energy, and money into the Prophet software project, got into a lawsuit with Google, and now they're shutting down Storipress and launching something new again.

Since it's just outside the 12-month coverage of the AppSumo Purchase Protection Policy, I'd appreciate a kind gesture from AppSumo, like some kind of full or even partial credit kickback this time around.

SHUTTING DOWN FOREVER

After 9 months and 7 days Storipress shutting down causing me to lose not only my money again, but my time working with this app and obviously my trust in Appsumo after a long period.
This is the result of a poor intake filter which does not force their app advertisers if they can demonstrate the long term viability of their apps.

Hey Appsumo: Quality VS. quantity, is the problem!

Enclosed is the farewell letter from Storipress team:
We have bittersweet news: After many great years of learning and building with you, we’ve decided to sunset the app.

We know migrating off Storipress may take some time, so we’ve set aside two months for you to prepare — you can use the app until November 15th, 2024, after which all data will be deleted.

We’ve compiled a migration guide here and we’re working with our investor to approve the open sourcing of our codebase for those who want to self-host Storipress.

As for why Storipress is shutting down —

In 2020, Storipress believed owning content and its consumption data would enable better ad personalization. Google’s antitrust behavior prevented it from using this data effectively, presenting an arbitrage opportunity. Prophet and Google’s ongoing antitrust litigation proved this thesis accurate.

However, we mistakenly targeted traditional media at launch, which was slow to adopt new technologies. Meanwhile, B2B companies starting to self-publish were a rapidly growing and more adaptable target customer.

When we launched to traditional media, we accidentally generated too much user momentum in this segment to pivot effectively to B2B businesses. The only way to do this would have been to deprecate our site builder, the most technically complex and expensive part of Storipress; however, we were too concerned with the mission-critical nature of our initial product on our customers’ businesses. Maintaining the site builder consumed over 35% of our development budget, slowing the technical work needed for the pivot.

While Storipress explored how to improve advertising, we’ve begun pondering a new question: “What does the future of information look like?” Not from a page you found on Google but from the underlying bedrock of where information comes from. We think it’s one of the most critical questions in the coming decade, and we believe Consensus is an excellent example of this future.

While that means this is the end for Storipress, we can’t wait to show you what we’re up to next. In the meantime, thanks a ton for using Storipress. It was a privilege building with you.

Let's Me Publish My Way

I am really enjoying Storipress. It is keeping me organised and letting me publish my content, my way without worrying about restrictions other platforms impose. Storipress is easy to use and offers enough flexibility with formatting to allow my publications to look visually interesting.
