Tabby has received positive feedback from customers, particularly for its intuitive interface, fast bank connections, and AI categorization. However, some users have reported minor issues with transaction categorization and occasional interruptions during onboarding. Despite these hiccups, Tabby remains a solid choice for those seeking an all-in-one AI tool for accounting and expense tracking. With a 4.0 overall rating and a 60-day money-back guarantee, it's worth considering for your needs.

Needs More Polish

I think it has potential but right now it is so annoying for an AI powered tool. So many popups and notifications. During the onboarding phase, it constantly interrupted me.

It does categorize many transactions but that was possible even before generative AI. Banks have been doing this for years. I don't think Tabby is any more accurate than other tools. What's annoying is that in my short time, it could not categorize common transactions like Reddit Ads, cashback statement credits and credit card payments.

Bug: When I went to add a new category, the form says "Add Account". At first I thought I clicked the wrong button so i closed it and reopened but this is indeed a typo.

Also, this feels like it was vibe-coded as it has all the tell-tale signs of it. If it's true, it makes me very concerned as fintech is not something I would trust to a non engineer + AI.

I bought tier 2 because tier 1 does not even provide AI features, which seems very counterintuitive for an AI bookkeeping tool. I am on the fence on whether to keep it or not. I only added business credit cards. I will test with other bank accounts that have mixed usage.

Determining personal or business use and generating reports for tax purposes were the two use cases for me. If it can do those two things I will likely keep it and add a taco to the rating.

I see the potential

As a Canadian, currently using Wave, Tabby appealed to me as an alternative that I could switch to with all the lifetime perks associated with the deal.

I logged into Tabby for the first time tonight and, even though it's not currently setup for Canadian use, it was able to quickly and easily connect to my business bank account and download/categorize almost all of the transactions accurately on the first attempt, it was pretty impressive.

The layout is similar to Wave, which I like, it will make transitioning easy. I haven't looked too hard for import options, but it would be nice if I could import useful info from Wave into Tabby when the time comes.

I eagerly await Canadian features/options/support and the availability of the mobile app in Canada as well.

I like what I see so far, I have high hopes for Tabby.

Hello there!
It’s so great to hear that you’re enjoying the layout and that the transaction categorization is already working well for you! We’re thrilled to have you moving over from Wave.

To answer your question about our roadmap:

Canadian Features: We expect to have full support for Canadian features, including the mobile app, ready within the next 2 to 3 months.

Currency Transition: When we...

A godsend!

For years, I have been dreaming of a service like this ... and yay, it's here! I love Tabby. It's easy to use, will save on the endless price hikes of Quickbooks, and for someone who hates doing bookkeeping, Tabby is a dream come true.

The only downside so far is not with Tabby, but with Plaid, which does not connect to a couple of my banking institutions. There's an option to upload statements, so I will go ahead and do that.

I highly recommend Tabby for small business owners like me.

Hi there, thank you so much for the kind words! It’s wonderful to hear that Tabby is helping you move away from the high costs of QuickBooks and making bookkeeping less of a chore.

Regarding your banking connections, linking is not mandatory. You can absolutely upload your bank transactions manually using Excel, CSV, or PDF files. Tabby will still automatically categorize those transactions for...

Transaction details not visible

My first step after setting up Tabby with my bank was to categorize my expenses. It took me all of 30 seconds to discover that half the transactions (all of which were quite recent, and synced electronically) were missing essential transaction details. This missing info was true even for Paypal transactions (in spite of the fact that Paypal includes the vendor details on all their transactions) and linked bank accounts (ACH transfers to pay my regular contractors).

There were no details on the website on how to access the missing bank info. As much as I hate Quickbooks, it captures all of these details, making categorization relatively quick. As of now, Tabby would require me to painstakingly correlate dozens of payments each month with my bank ledger. Needless to say, this defeats the purpose of an accounting app.

As the record-keeping function was the main function I needed it for, I requested a refund thru AppSumo. Best of wishes to Tabby for future development.

Thanks for sharing your feedback.

Good news—this is an easy fix for us! We're working on it and plan to roll out the update in the next week or so. Initially, we aimed to simplify the display by showing only the most important information. Our AI does a great job at predicting categories accurately. But we understand that having detailed transaction info is important to you and other...

Really wanted to love it, but have reservations

I really wanted to love Tabby. I purchased the third tier for one company and was planning on purchasing another subscription for a second company. However, after a thorough review, I have some serious reservations:

Pros:
1. Easy to setup
2. Intuitive
3. Fast
4. User-friendly
5. Convenient

Cons:
1. You can’t drill down into the transaction when viewing transactions report

2. It’s super annoying that I can’t delete Domino’s, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, 7-Eleven, Walmart, Amazon, Target, Best Buy, Costco, Home Depot, Publix, Nissan, etc. from the list of vendors (they’re locked for some reason). I haven’t purchased from any of these vendors. I should have control of deleting information I don’t want in my own company’s data. It feels like an advertisement for these vendors.

3. Vendors I have paid do not appear in the list.

4. You can’t change the account numbers in the chart of accounts or create your own groupings.

5. You can only view 10 transactions on the page. This is a huge waste of time – I’d rather be able to choose how many transactions I can see on a page (i.e. 25, 50, 100, etc.)

6. Help Center is in not developed yet. I conducted simple searches, such as “opening balance” and “chart of accounts” and nothing was found.

7. There’s no way to update your communication preferences in your account settings. (besides SMS and email notifications)...or update your communication preferences in your account settings. I was unable to find the “do not sell or share my personal information” link on their website as mentioned in their privacy policy.

8. It’s a privacy nightmare. Unless you opt-out using opt-out tools, your data will be used for advertising and retargeting. Be sure to read their privacy policy and make sure you’re comfortable with where data is shared, how long it’s shared and how it’s used. For example, Section 18.7: “Sharing: We may “share” personal information with advertising partners for cross-context behavioral advertising, which may be considered a “sale” or “share” under CCPA/CPRA.” Plus, who knows how AI is using your data.

I'll probably request a refund unless some of these issues are addressed.

Hi there,

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts on Tabby. We really appreciate your detailed feedback and are committed to using it to make Tabby even better. Let me address each of your points:

1. Drilling Down on Reports: You can currently drill down on the balance sheet and P&L reports to see detailed transactions. We're working on adding this feature to the expense report, and it...
