A Great Product That No Longer Delivers the Value I Originally Purchased
I purchased the Tier 3 Lifetime Deal, the highest tier available, because I believed in Taskade and wanted to support the company early. At the time, it was one of my favorite AppSumo purchases.
The platform was intuitive, innovative, and the team consistently shipped meaningful improvements. Support was responsive, and it felt like a company that genuinely cared about its community.
Over time, however, the value of my lifetime purchase has changed.
The product has evolved significantly, and many of the capabilities that now define the platform require an ongoing credit-based model. While I understand software evolves and infrastructure costs increase, the practical experience of using my lifetime plan today is very different from when I made my investment.
My disappointment isn’t with the quality of the product. Taskade is still an impressive platform.
It’s with how early lifetime customers have been handled during that transition.
I would have appreciated clearer communication, a stronger grandfathering strategy, or another accommodation that recognized those of us who purchased the highest lifetime tier and helped support the company’s growth.
Support has always been courteous and professional, but I don’t feel the final resolution addressed the underlying concern.
I’m leaving this review so future AppSumo buyers understand that a lifetime deal can change in value as a product evolves. That’s an important consideration before making any lifetime software purchase.
I sincerely hope Taskade revisits how it supports its earliest customers because I would love to update this review in the future.
Like most of the other recent reviews, we're pretty annoyed that Taskade has rug-pulled the goods on their LTD buyers.
I have no issue paying for AI credits; you have to pay something. However, a week ago, I topped up with 45,000, and the very next task one of the team attempted was met with "no credits left." There is no way that I have found to find out where credits were used, just a hokey dashboard with a basic overview
I have worked on over 45 different AI platforms, and nothing eats credits like Taskade. You cannot set your global preference to use a low-cost model for menial tasks; every time you chat, you have to manually set which mode and which model to use.
At the rate it uses up credits, it is more expensive than our OpenAI, Abacus, and Claude monthly subscriptions combined!
On top of that, as mentioned several times, you are imprisoned within the Gemini system, working with a database like Supabase, for example, or making a GitHub Repo/backup, is the stuff of nightmares.
Another LTD rip-off all AI credits zeroed - full pay to play despite being in from the start
I don't blame appsumo for this, but just in case Taskade ever come near appsumo again here is my current review.
As a Tier 3 user of Taskade through AppSumo, I’ve experienced significant changes that have impacted my workflow and trust in the platform:
The unlimited AI access I initially had was quietly replaced with strict AI credit limits, which severely restricts how much I can use the AI features. My plan was downgraded from the top-tier Ultimate/Tier 3 level to a lower-tier Pro plan without any clear communication or warning. Key features I relied on, like AI agents and knowledge base access, which were included in the original lifetime deal, are now either locked behind additional payments or completely restricted. These changes happened abruptly with no prior notice. Overall, I feel this shift from unlimited access to paid usage is a breach of trust and has disrupted important workflows and business processes that depended on those AI capabilities. Many other users share these frustrations, and discussions about restoring the original access.
Again the sustainability of LTDs raise their ugly head, if you want a quick smash and grab software to churn out short-term benefits great, but you really cannot rely on these products for your long-term business when some proprietors don't honour their original deals.
I gave this product 5 stars originally nearly 2 years ago. The product was amazing as a Notion alternative. Luckily I did not use it to manage project because it has now changed into some AI agent vibe coding platform and move away from its original purpose.
They should have stuck to what they did best with managing tasks, projects and to-do. They used to release regular videos on YouTube with existing updates and now it just seems some sort of trying to do everything mess. Such a shame to lose what was a great product. Their Discord channel is just flooded with spam.
This app barely has anything to do with the original purpose anymore.
Everywhere a window pops up -> create an app, without the option to disable it.
The purpose has changed.
Basically, I find the features good, but the way Appsumo supporters are treated is really bad.
You can barely use the app without credits anymore and have to buy the almost regular subscription or purchase credits. A small amount of monthly credits would have been fair, but setting them completely to 0 reveals the makers' goal at Taskade. You have to keep buying.

It's becoming somewhat of a standard for LTDs.
