Good App, but Better Guidance Needed for Optimized Use

I wasted a lot of credits at first while trying to build an app that never worked. For simple database categorization, the default prompt worked fine, but I still ended up burning through around 1800 credits across just four prompts — one main prompt and three refinement prompts.
Later, when I explored the settings, I realized there’s a model selection option, and that alone makes a huge difference. I switched to DeepSeek 3.2 as a test, and even though the tool mainly recommends Gemini, Claude, and OpenAI models, DeepSeek 3.2 under AI Settings actually helped me a lot. With it credit usage was very low than before.
One thing that really needs improvement is the tutorials. They should clearly explain:
- What actions consume credits
- What actions do NOT consume credits
- How to optimize credit usage
- Which settings matter the most
Right now, it’s not intuitive. You have to navigate through multiple menus just to understand or track your actual credit usage. Without clearer guidance, people will waste credits and eventually stop using the tool.
I hope these get addressed for better user experience.

Hi Krish19, thanks for the review. Here's a quick breakdown on credits:
What consumes credits: Only AI-powered features — AI Fields, AI Chat, and App Builder.
What does NOT consume credits: Everything else — automations, views, forms, API access and access apps after built etc.

How to optimize credit usage:
AI Fields: You can choose from 100+ models. For batch AI tasks, picking a cost-efficient model (like DeepSeek as you discovered) can reduce consumption significantly.
AI Chat & App Builder: We recommend sticking with the default model settings. While they consume more credits per interaction, higher-quality models reach better results faster, which typically means lower total cost than iterating many times with a weaker model.

What we've already done:
Added 2 months of upfront credits for all AppSumo users
Automations no longer consume credits, ensuring your workflows run stably

What's coming in the next few weeks: AI credit consumption will drop meaningfully. Once our optimized version is live, we will also review and compensate users for unreasonable credit consumption from the current version.
