IDEA IT'S GOOD BUT THE CURRENT MODEL NOT
Teable has a very solid foundation. The database structure is sound, and the idea of combining it with AI has great potential.
BIG PROBLEMS:
1- AI mandatory for almost everything. Credit system makes development and maintenance frustrating: small changes consume a lot of credits, the AI makes mistakes, crashes, or unnecessarily rewrites large parts of the app. So the process expensive and unpredictable.
2- Basic tools that shouldn’t rely on AI are missing, like manual dashboards, simple charts, pivot tables and reports. 3- Analysing your own data SHOULDN'T CONSUME CREDITS; these are STANDARD features on any data platform.
IDEA IT'S GOOD BUT THE CURRENT MODEL NOT. With these changes, Teable could become a truly strong and sustainable product.
- It provided more manual control for visualisation, reporting and simple adjustments.
- It reserved AI for complex tasks and automation.
- It made credit consumption more proportional and predictable.

On credit consumption and AI efficiency:
We hear you. Teable takes an AI-driven approach to building — dashboards, charts, reports, custom layouts — because we believe the level of customization this unlocks far exceeds what static drag-and-drop templates can offer. But that power has to come at a predictable, reasonable cost, and right now it doesn't always.
Here's what we've already done:
Added 2 months of upfront credits for all AppSumo users
Automations no longer consume credits, ensuring your workflows run stably
What's coming in the next few weeks: AI credit consumption will drop meaningfully. We're making the AI smarter about applying targeted fixes instead of unnecessarily rebuilding large parts. Once the optimized version is live, we will also review and compensate users for unreasonable credit consumption from the current version.
On dashboards and reporting:
Traditional drag-and-drop dashboards have their own trade-offs — they take significant time to configure, and when you hit the limits of what's available, custom requirements simply can't be fulfilled. With App Builder, credits are only consumed during the building phase — once your app or dashboard is built, it runs without consuming any credits. This also eliminates the steep learning curve of mastering a dashboard tool's specific UI and configuration rules. And as AI models continue to improve, the building process will become faster, cheaper, and smarter over time — the value only goes up.
On data analysis:
Only AI-powered features consume credits (AI Fields, AI Chat, App Builder). Viewing, filtering, sorting, grouping, and working with your data through tables, views, forms, and the API does not consume any credits.
