Does the Android phone that I have access to need to be active and on a cell plan? Or can it be used through WiFi without being activated? It has SIM card, but it’s one that I don’t ever use…

A: SIM card needs to be active. You can't use TextLink if you can't send SMS from your phone.

Hello, Am I sending SMS messages through my own carrier or through TextLink? And if I am bringing my own carrier, can I assume that I would be limited to whatever my carrier allows? So I wouldn't be able to set the outbound CallerID, etc.
