Awesome and useful SaaS, a business enabler
Before I purchased Tier 5 of Thoughtly I did my due diligence by creating a free test account. I have still not figured out how to actually use Google Sheets (for feeding in contact details to the caller) and Google Calendar or NextCloud Calendar (for booking meetings) without using Zapier, but when I have asked their chatbot it stated that this is possible. I am using Procesio which is an amazing former offer on AppSumo as well and I hope that I can use Procesio instead of Zapier thereby saving me significant costs on integrations and execution time and adding a lot of flexibility and versatility. I also asked here about support for Swedish and Danish incorporated companies (this is necessary for doing outbound calls), voices and numbers and according to the answers I got here in the Q&A section from Thoughtly, this works.
When I buy AI based services these days, I avoid the simple services like creating articles, generating images, splitting up videos to short form content etc. I want AI based services that are business enablers adding a high level of business potential, providing a kick-butt service that that goes beyond what most people can imagine is the future. This is how I see Thoughtly. They do that. Sure, there are still some hiccups here and there, but this IS the nature of AppSumo offers. If you expect a fully debugged, complete SaaS, then you have misinterpreted what is available on AppSumo.
Usually when I purchase offers on AppSumo I go for the full tiers or none at all. Not always I use what I have paid for but I instead have to wait till they release a version that can be used in a professional context. Getting the full tiers is my way of supporting promising vendors to build their service by providing some funding, feedback, ratings & reviews and suggestions on how to enhancing their service in return for getting lifetime access to a great service. Now I have fulfilled my part of the AppSumo contract. I hope that Thoughtly will not break their part of the agreement by pulling back from the deal.
Others here have complained about the Thoughtly support. Sure, it's not instant unless you think of their AI based chatbot, but the human support IS responsive. It can just take a few hours. I am ok with that. It's a SaaS in its early stage of its product life cycle.
The average rating for Thoughtly here at AppSumo seem very low, but I recommend reading the reviews from those who have given them a 1 or 2 star rating. Most of those reviews are questionable. What they have rated is instead their own ignorance. Come on, shape up! Write honest reviews that provide good guidance to potential buyers and fair feedback to Thoughtly. You aren't fair! I gave Thoughtly a 5 taco review here and sure they have a lot to prove still, but to me it's a fair rating. ASK the vendors before assuming things. A proper and fair average rating would probably be around 4.5 - 5 tacos instead.
So in all, Thoughtly gives me hope. Hope for a great future with this service but also that they will deliver their part of the agreement. I was weighing between Tier 4 and Tier 5 due to the risk that they might act like so many other vendors at AppSumo, but I finally went for Tier 5 with 30000 credits per month mapped to their Business plan. To me it's a significant investment but I really hope that it will pay off. I did a test with a script for presenting a consulting service which then tried to schedule a meeting (voice only) and I included a few misunderstandings. That call took 3 minutes, which means that the 30000 credits will result in about this. A number costs 500 credits per month. You need a number for outbound calls and one number for inbound calls so 1000 credits is used on that, Then you need to spend a bit on the steps in the conversation, I guess 1000 credits per month should be enough. That leaves about 28000 credits per month. Each call costs 10 credits per minute, so 30 credits for my 3 min call. This leaves (28000 / 10 / 3 = 933), 933 such calls per month. If a month is 21.5 weekdays on average, this means making 43 calls per day. Not bad. If I would do that myself, I would maybe be able to do 8-10 calls per day. So, if I manage to convert 5% of the calls to some paid service of ours worth $97 / month with a profit margin of say 10%, then that would mean 933 * 5% * $97 = $4525) $4525 / month in revenue and ($4525 * 10% = $452) $452 per month in profit. The risk is ofc that Thoughtly starts to get stupid thoughts of raising the credit price per call to say 20 credits per minute. Then that would significantly lower profitability.
I hope that they will offer Agency features as part of their Tier 5/Business Plan. This could be done with some sort of revenue sharing where they could charge some percentage per call. Of course they should make money too, if not they will not survive to continue providing a great service to us Sumolings and others.
If I get any reason to return to update this review, I will.
