Early Testing...Has Bugs...

The tool is very confusing to use at first. But once you spend the time and actually figure it all out, it's pretty straight forward. The onboarding needs some work. But that's not my concern at all with this tool.

The issue I have is that it claims to give you 100's (up to 1200) keywords. I have tested with several sites that I manage thoroughly using different settings and keywords (niche to broad) in each respective niche and i keep getting a max of 20 keywords, even after setting everything to max. I have my site maps for each site added too. Has been pretty useless so far. I have had much better results but just using an LLM like ChatGPT. I'm still testing and trying to figure out if i'm going wrong somewhere, but I have followed the processes it has. I'm also struggling to see what the USP is here because as of now it's not providing much help to my SEO compared to what I've done with other tools and just using LLMs in general. I do like that it gives you various export options, which is why i'm giving it 2 tacos - it's the only thing i think is useful, but with basically no keywords being generated, even this is not that helpful to me right now.

If i find i've done something wrong and the tool actually provides a good number of keywords (as it claims), i'll update my rating.

Edit (6th June 26): increased my rating from 2 to 3 tacos on basis founder has accepted responsibility for the issues I'm facing (getting 20 results due to bug) and is actively working on a fix. Once it's fixed, I'll re-try and if it works, update my rating again accordingly.

It's refreshing to see such honesty and transparency from a founder like this so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that this will be resolved as I do appreciate bugs happen even if I am a little surprised this hasn't been brought up already within the q&a's & reviews.

Thank you for the honest and transparent reply.and I look forward to the fix.

Hey, thank you for the detailed, fair write-up. You're right, and the keyword count is on us, not your settings.

Here's what's happening: the 800–1,200 keywords get added in a second enrichment pass that runs in the background after your initial map appears. On some maps that pass is stalling, which leaves you stuck at the 20 starter keywords and separately, it isn't expanding things the way it...

Quick KW Research and Planning

If you are looking for a quick way to do KW research and plan your content for many months, this is a good tool to consider:

🟢 Sumolings love BYOK, and TMAI has this for all tiers which is super!

🟢 Pulls from DataforSEO, plus option to connect your AHREFS and SRMrush.

🟢 Lots of keyword suggestions with organization and scoring.

🟢 Aside from SEO map, you also get Social map, Product map, News map, etc.

🟢 Option for content creation stright from your KW research.

🟢 Export options: Export to AI, Calendar planning, spreadsheet, etc.

However, I also encountered important issues that are worth noting...

🔴 Failed generations are still deducting credits.

🔴 Credits are still being deducted despite BYOK connection.

🔴 Sometime, I can't find what I generated. Effort is needed to find it from the dashboard.

🔴 Other minor UI/UX issues.

It's a good thing that Megan, the founder, is responsive and listens to feedback. That's why I'm keeping TMAI, because I'm sure the issues will be resolved within the 60-day refund window.

Good luck and hoping to add the extra taco soon!

Thanks so much for the review, and for the shot at that extra taco.

On the credits getting deducted even with BYOK quick thing that should help right away. the credit waiver kicks in when you connect an LLM key (OpenAI or Anthropic), since that's the part actually doing the generating. A data-only key like Ahrefs or SEMrush gets you their keyword data, but the AI work still runs on our side, so...

A Review for the TopicalMap.ai Team — From Someone Building in the Future of AI Search

Rating: 4.8 / 5

What you’ve built is already extremely valuable.

The speed, topical clustering, content planning flow, and authority mapping dramatically reduce the operational workload behind modern SEO strategy. You turned what used to be days of planning into minutes, and that alone makes the product worth using.

But I believe you are standing at the edge of something far bigger than a topical authority tool.

The industry is moving beyond traditional SEO faster than most people realize.

And I think TopicalMap.ai is one of the few platforms already positioned close enough to evolve into what comes next.

Right now, the real opportunity is not just ranking pages.

It’s becoming visible inside AI-generated answers.

That changes everything.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
The Shift From SEO → GEO
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Search is no longer just:
“Who ranks #1?”

Now it’s:
“Who gets cited by AI systems?”

ChatGPT.
Perplexity.
Google AI Mode.
Claude.
Gemini.

These systems are fundamentally changing how users discover information.

The websites that win in the next generation will not simply be the ones with backlinks and keyword density.

They will be the ones with:

structured topical authority
strong entity relationships
answer-first architecture
AI-readable information design
operational content ecosystems

That is why GEO matters.

Generative Engine Optimization is not a trend.
It is the next layer of discoverability infrastructure.

And your platform is already halfway there.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Where I Think TopicalMap.ai Can Become a Category Leader
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

AI Citability Intelligence

Your topical maps already organize authority.

Now imagine layering:

AI citability probability
answer-surface likelihood
entity coverage scoring
conversational query relevance
AI extraction quality

on top of those maps.

Instead of only asking:
“What ranks?”

Users could ask:
“What gets surfaced by AI systems?”

That becomes a completely different category.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

GEO-Optimized Briefing Systems

Your current content briefs are strong for traditional SEO.

But AI engines prefer different structures.

The future brief generator should support:

answer-first formatting
entity-rich explanations
quotable statements
conversational extraction patterns
structured definitions
clean semantic hierarchy

A toggle between:

SEO Mode
GEO / AI Visibility Mode

would instantly separate your platform from legacy keyword tools.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Entity Infrastructure Layer

The future of discoverability is entity-driven.

Not keyword-driven.

Your maps should eventually expose:

entity relationships
authority gaps
brand association layers
knowledge graph alignment
semantic ecosystem mapping

This is where topical authority evolves into operational AI visibility.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

AI Visibility Monitoring

One of the biggest missing tools in the market right now is:
“Am I actually visible inside AI-generated answers?”

Imagine letting users:

track AI citations
monitor AI visibility
compare competitors
identify missing entities
see where Perplexity or ChatGPT pull from

That turns your platform from a planning tool into:
an AI search intelligence platform.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Operational Content Systems

Most content tools stop at planning.

The future winners will support:

persistent workflows
operational memory
connected research systems
execution continuity
AI-assisted authority building

The opportunity is no longer:
“generate content.”

The opportunity is:
“build an operational authority engine.”

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Why This Matters Right Now
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Google itself is moving toward AI-generated search experiences.

Traffic behavior is changing.
User behavior is changing.
Discovery systems are changing.

The old SEO contract is weakening.

The next generation of visibility will belong to platforms that help users become:

structurally authoritative
semantically trusted
AI-citable
operationally consistent

And honestly:
TopicalMap.ai already feels closer to that future than most of the market.

That’s why I’m writing this review.

Because I think you are much closer to owning this category than you may realize.

You already have:

the user base
the infrastructure
the authority mapping foundation
the workflow understanding
the brand positioning

Now it’s about evolving from:
“topical maps”

into:
“AI visibility infrastructure.”

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Final Thoughts
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

I use AI systems daily.
I build operational AI infrastructure myself.
And I pay close attention to where search, discoverability, and AI execution are heading.

Very few tools feel positioned correctly for the next era.

TopicalMap.ai is one of them.

You are not just building an SEO utility anymore.

You are sitting near the foundation of what AI-era discoverability could become.

And that’s a much bigger opportunity than most people realize.

Thanks for this, and for being specific. The most useful reviews aren't ratings, they're roadmaps, and yours is one of those. You're correct about the direction. Topical authority structure is already entity-driven and answer-shaped, that's not accidental, that's the foundation I'm building on. What's currently missing is the explicit GEO layer on top of it: citability scoring, AI visibility...

Application super!

I'm not familiar with SEO optimization, so I needed more time to familiarize myself with how it works. Anyway, the results give a great hand to target the writing of articles.
The only shortcoming is that the results of a research on a subject in French are not as effective as in English. In the same vein, non-commercial topics of interest seem more difficult to obtain optimal results (ex; literature or else) so some research must be done beforehand to optimize the search. The creator of the application gives excellent support and is very quick to respond.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this! You're right on both limitations. On French (and non-English in general), the underlying search-volume data we use has stronger coverage for English-language keywords than for French. The metrics you see in English-language maps are noticeably more reliable than what you get in French, especially for lower-volume terms. We're looking at ways to...
