Q: Love the concept of what you're doing Armel.
It's pure genius I think, but I have a couple of concerns and questions.
1. I am wondering why you are using a term like 'Shortcast'. Why not just stick with focusing on audio editing and so call whatever is being worked on a generic name like 'Audio file' as that includes everything?
2. The copy and paste features does seem to be working. If you use the shortcut keys I get an error, and if I right click and select copy nothing happens.
3. Just discovered I can insert another file within the transcript, which is AWESOME as it means I can delete errors and add in the corrections as a new MP3 file. Brilliant.
4. My personal opinion, but I think you need to stick with the brilliant audio editing, and not confuse it with creating feeds, or even recording audio within the app, as there are so many other amazing tools for doing that kind of stuff, whereas yours already has a brilliant USP that you should focus on.
Again, in my opinion, you're better off being THE best transcription based audio (and maybe video) editor than trying to be a bit of everything.

May 15, 2024A: Hi Pip,
My apologies for the late reply. Thank you for the encouraging words.
1. That is a good question. We started using the word "shortcast" because Trebble was focusing on short-form podcasts. Unfortunately, it sometimes creates confusion. Additionally, Trebble also allows people to work with longer files. We have a plan eventually to use a name more conventional like "audio" or "audio file" as you mentioned.
2. The copy-paste feature seems to be working fine. Which browser are you using? I am wondering if it is not working on your side because of the browser you are using. Knowing the browser you are using will help troubleshoot the issue.
3. I am glad to hear that you enjoy the fact that you can insert audio files in the transcripts. Are you adding background music or anything like that? I am curious to hear the context in which you are inserting new audio files.
4. Thank you for sharing your opinion on the direction Trebble should take. I understand your perspective on focusing on audio editing and I believe it is a viable strategy. I also believe there is a potentially bigger opportunity to allow people not just to edit audio but to help them with the overall vision behind their content.
That said, the focus right now is around audio editing because I do believe the sustainable way to achieve that vision is to build a great tool for creating audio which is the main focus at the moment.
If you are open to it, I would love to jump on a call to chat with you about all of this :)
Hi Pip,
There are ways to insert your own rerecorded version but it might be a little tricky. That said, we have plans to make it easy to re-record a section of your audio https://trebble.canny.io/feature-requests/p/allow-to-re-record-a-word-or-a-section-of-the-audio-in-the-audio-in-the-editor-w
