Q: Self-hosted, open-source, pricing and features; it's all a bit confusing
I'm trying to sort out the various options for UniBee and am confused about your pricing models.
This deal appears to be for cloud hosted service only, but in some replies to questions you have said that self-hosting is an option. I also don't understand what is different between your self-hosted option, and using the free open-source version via Docker.
Can you please provide some clarity on how self-hosting and open-source are different, AND what tier on AppSumo translates to the self-hosted plan on your pricing page?
Thanks!
Yuumi
Nov 2, 2025A: Thanks for asking — here’s a quick map of our options:
Cloud (hosted by UniBee): fully managed. The AppSumo deal is a Cloud Lifetime Deal (LTD). Features are aligned with our standard cloud plans; tiers mainly differ by the number of billing admins per workspace.
Self-Hosted (commercial license): you run UniBee on your own infra; we provide packaged builds, updates, and support/SLA. Priced separately from AppSumo.
Open-Source (Docker/community): free core edition; DIY ops; community support. Some enterprise modules/integrations and guaranteed support are not included.
How tiers map: AppSumo tiers don’t translate 1:1 to Self-Hosted plans. AppSumo covers Cloud LTD only. If you’re considering Self-Hosted, share your scale (tenants, invoices/month, regions, gateways), and we’ll recommend a package.
Happy to help you choose the right path: zero-maintenance → Cloud (AppSumo LTD); full control/on-prem → Self-Hosted; experimenting/customizing → Open-Source.
