Q: Scenario: Let's say I have a daily recurring task with no time (ie it's something I can complete any time ...

during the day - the only requirement is that I complete it once every day). Let's say I am now planning my day using the Daily Planner view, and I drag the task to 2pm because that's a good time for me to complete it today.

Right now, Upbase changes the original task to recurring daily at 2pm, instead of leaving it as recurring daily without a time.

That's not the desired behaviour for me. Since when I plan my day tomorrow, it will show I have a task due at 2pm, which is not the case. Also, if I had wanted it to have a specific time, I would have added it at the time of creating the task.

Please could you add the ability to leave the task unchanged after scheduling it for today?

Thanks.

A: Thank you for your feedback. Essentially, dragging a task to the calendar means updating the task's due date and time. This update will then be applied to the recurring tasks.

I understand your perspective, and we will certainly take your input into account for future improvements. Perhaps implementing a prompt to ask users whether they want to apply these changes to all future recurring tasks could help resolve the issue.

Cheers,

To me, it makes more sense for the default to NOT to modify the time for the task, simply because it's been dragged onto the planner. After all, the planner is for planning today's schedule only. If my intention was to change the time for the recurring task, I would have gone and added a time for the recurring task.

I regularly drag and drop recurring daily tasks onto today's planner. If I have to dismiss a prompt 6 or 7 times each day, it will become very unwieldy. Perhaps have a toggle in settings rather than prompting each time?

FYI, I'm currently also trying out TrevorAI which integrates with Todoist. In TrevorAI, I can drag a recurring Todoist task onto a time block in the planner, without it adding a time to the task. Thanks for considering my request for the same behaviour in Upbase.

I also have daily recurring tasks with no time required. Maybe a category of Recurring/Floating tasks. or a peg board where these tasks sit and I can assign them a time slot each day

Thank you for the feedback. We are fully aware that there is significant room for improvement in the recurring tasks feature. Additionally, we are in the process of planning to display all future recurring tasks on the calendar. Your input is valuable as we continue to enhance our system. Cheers,
