This app is useless. I’ve been a professional designer for 13 years, and this app doesn't teach people how to do anything. It just quizzes them on vocabulary terms. It’s a glorified buzzfeed quiz masquerading as an app.
Issuing UX certificates for this is just a joke. There is no interactive element. Imagine getting a driver's license for only completing the written exam and never getting behind the wheel. This "app" is exactly like that.
I want a refund for them wasting the time of my team, but it's too late unfortunately. One taco is too much.
Interesting Resource and Seems to Accomplish What’s Designed to Do
This type of learning is good for memory recall. In a way, I'm not entirely sure how you can learn design based on remembering keywords and terms, etc. But if you go through the program you do retain some of the information you learn if you read the theory then take the examinations. What you do with what you retain is up to you really. So for example, you may retain some rule regarding color. So one day while you're designing maybe it helps during your process to get work done. This subscription isn't going to turn you into a designer, but it's a good supplemental material that replace textbooks.
Very cool product that is one of the standouts on Appsumo. Intuitive, wonderfully designed (as you'd expect for a UX/UI company!) and packed full of features. The courses are fun too. Looking forward to using this for its educational benefits and screening of applicants tests.
TL;DR: one of the best deals I ever bought on Appsumo. Try for yourself.
As a freelance developer I usually struggle thinking in terms of design and UI/UX, often falling back to ready-made frameworks and design systems (read: bootstrap, material, semantic, etc).
I just completed design basics and I already understand why and how some design systems work. Also, I'm very happy with it because I can already see how i can improve my production websites.
Strong pros: * gaming system is amazing, i love it * learning material is easy and clear * lots of valuable and useful insights * unmatched price / value
Could be improved: * timer for non-english speakers (may be a little more merciful, btw I'm Italian) * mobile design for exercises / challenges (good as it is, imho may benefit by being "compact" or introducing a toggle for it)
Nowadays, no matter how many great features it might promise, it's hard to respect a product that doesn't have a beautiful, human-oriented design. It's the first thing I judge any product by, and if I open a deal and the logo or website of that product looks sub-par I don't even bother much more. It's vain but it has been a very good way to predict how long or how good a LTD tool will turn out to be, because it is indicative of how seriously and how much effort the people actually put into that tool.
Uxcel looks amazingly designed on all aspects, so that's already a great indicator that it's a good place to learn from :D Design has always been a part of my skills however I was always self taught and never had the chance to do any University courses for it, so having this chance, especially to do it in such a lively platform, is a great opportunity. Thank you!

Wow! Thank you for such amazing feedback! We indeed put a lot of effort into the design of both marketing and the app.
