One open role is a role/job position that you're hiring for. For example, if you're hiring a Junior Copywriter currently, that is one open role, once you hire for that role, you can switch it to a different role like Social Media Manager. However if you want to hire for both roles simultaneously that would require two AppSumo codes to allow for two open roles.
