I will redo my assessment. It is not possible to use third party CDN.

I will redo my assessment.

For me the real interest of videolinq is to sell CDN traffic and not offer a service where you can use it as an intermediary to receive your Live transmission signal and redirect it to another external CDN. Send to other RTMP already exist in the market at least 5 other companies that do the service, which have already passed here by APPSUMO.

For me, the big difference would be if it were really possible to use an external CDN to output the final flow to HLS (.m3u8) for as many users as I want at a lower cost on my CDN.

I'm sorry, but saying that I can send a transmission to any other RTMP and connect it to my CDN and or get the HLS is not the same thing as saying that I can use my external CDN. This is not true. This would be possible if you let me point you to an external CDN URL to save the HLS stream, but that is not possible, as was clear from the support.

There are interesting features, but I didn't see anything different that really justified the purchase of 3 codes.

API:

I asked the API documentation support (I purchased 3 codes), they didn't send it to me, it was said that I need to develop it to use the API (If I requested the API it is because I know how to use it, I didn't ask how to use it.). The offer says that by purchasing 3 codes you would have access to the API, so far I have not received or found the documentation.

nDVR:

About the recording, you cannot export or download the data after LIVE, just use the videolinq as CDN to run the video on your website.

It does not invalidate the attempt of another company to enter the market, the more the better, but the offer is not in accordance with the reality of the offered, at least I did not find the advantages in saying that you can use the CDN itself or third parties. Sending to another RTMP any other service already does, there is nothing new.

Thank you for your review. I will try to answer your comments and with that address other posts, we received in the last days with the same feedback. First, I want to put things in the right perspective: Videolinq is a new software as a service (SaaS) company, and by definition, we provide service for profit. If you accuse Videolinq that we are trying to profit from our service, I agree with you 110%. We are trying to make money, like any other commercial business, and we have no reason to hide this.

Now that the cat is out of the bag, let’s focus on the points you listed:

- If I understand correctly, you requested to use an HLS (.m3u8) path from an external CDN. We can support you: our player can play HLS video from ANY CDN. To send live Video to another CDN simply create an RTMP destination. They get your live video, you get from them the HLS path, and use our player to embed the stream on your website. This workflow is part of the AppSumo deal. There is no cost to you to send the RTMP out to your CDN, or to play your CDN video on the Videolinq player.

- We have an API and we give access to the API only to paid customers and require it requires an active account with a secure token to activate the API. This is a standard practice among many software providers. If you asked for the API you would have received this information with a link to a 50-page document. We also make it a habit to explain to customers that the use of the API requires programming knowledge and that you cannot use parts of the API, rather you need to build an entire workflow of users, channels, destinations, and permissions before you can use the API. The reason we explain this to customers is to avoid misunderstanding. We don’t want you to begin programming and finding out after a few days that you need to do more to achieve your goal.
- Let’s not confuse DVR or ā€œfile recordingā€ with nDVR. nDVR is a technology to capture, record, and allow you to ā€œrewindā€ live streams. This complex feature requires proper playback infrastructure and a player. If you came late to a live stream, you can rewind it (up to 30 minutes backward) and ā€œcatch upā€ on the stream. Only a few streaming service providers offer this feature and none of them let you use it on a 3rd party player. Our AppSumo plan did not mention anywhere the ability to record or download the stream.

Last, if you still want to use Videolinq as your CDN we charge $0.18/GB. We do this because we do not watermark your streams or force you to log to our platform so we can make money from advertising. I've seen a wrong comparison between Videolinq and BunnyCDN. BunnyCDN doesn't support RTMP or HLS. KeyCDN, for example, does support RTMP in and HLS out. Here are their pricing - https://www.keycdn.com/pricing . To me, they are a perfect candidate for the workflow I suggested before!
