Q: I would like to know if Vadootv Player can be used and is compatible with your service without taking any minutes from the plan.

Regarding the player, i went on your website and tried your live player. This is fast but i can't find any way to change the stream quality. How does it work on your side? Do I send a 1080 stream and you encode it in all different formats? 480, 720 and 1080 for exemple or do i need to send 3 streams to your server? What kind of stream is provided to the people watching? hls ?
Regarding the trafic what kind of netword is behind? Akamai, you own cdn ? How can your service hold the charge? My last question is for a live stream if 3 people watch 60 min of a live stream, do you remove 60 min or 3 times 60 min from the monthly allowance? Thank you for your answer

A: Hi labaude,

Thanks for reaching us. Below are my answers:

You can add direct links to your videos from any platform that provide them. If Vadootv Player provides the links (i.e.: m3u8 or mp4 links) you can add them as Viloud content. Here you can see which formats we support: https://help.viloud.tv/article/10-which-video-formats-do-we-support

The stream quality is automatically changed as we use adaptive bitrate streaming. The live stream work from our side in 1080p as maximum and you only need to send this 1080p signal to our server via RTMP, our system automatically will transcode the signal for an optimal distribution.

Our CDN partners are Fastly and Stackpath. So that our platform is ready to scale fast and to deliver worldwide.

The quick answer is that if 3 people watch 60 min of a live stream, it is counted like 3 times 60 min. Altough this is a bit more complex as we use peer-to-peer technology to stream, so you would actually see less than 180 minutes counted in your account, depending on how many people there are simultaneously watching the live. The more people connected at the same time the better the impact of P2P and this results in less minutes counted.

Cheers,
Joan

Hi!

Thanks for your questions! You don't need to upload your content on different resolutions/qualities. You must upload your content with the best quality you have. Our platform, depending on resolution, creates up to 5 renditions. The stream provided is HLS and the player selects the quality that better fits on any situation depending on device resolution, connection speed, etc...

We work with the best CDNs behind the scenes so we can say that will not be a problem how big your audience is ;-)

Regarding with streamed minutes, the total amount is the sum of all viewers, 3x60 in your example.

Cheers!

Thank you for all those answers. I have one last question.
Knowing that 3 x 60min will take 180 min and audience is unpredicable in terms of numbers. What is happening if you reach the plan limit? Do you stop the service during the live stream until the end of the month ?

Hi labaude,

If you reach the minutes viewed limit, your channels will eventually be paused. You need to get more codes to increase these limites and if you need to go beyond the limits obtained with the maximum number of codes you’ll be able to switch to a pay-as-you-go basis getting an extra discount applied to the price of the overages of the Premium plan (check https://viloud.tv/pricing/).

Best,
Joan.

H Joani, can you please explain a bit more about this line

"...if you need to go beyond the limits obtained with the maximum number of codes you’ll be able to switch to a pay-as-you-go basis getting an extra discount applied to the price of the overages of the Premium plan"

What would such a switch entail? Would it mean permanently giving up the LTD in return for a discount on a paid plan? Could we downgrade again to the LTD if needed? What sort of discount would be offered?

Sorry for the flurry of questions but at the moment it's a bit vague as to what could happen if someone went over the current limits. Thanks!

Hi johnr123

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I meant that you will be able to cross your monthly limits and the overages will be charged in a pay-as-you-go basis. But your limits will be kept to be used month by month. It will only be applied to overages and the discount will be of 25% on the price of overages of the Premium plan that you can see on our website: https://viloud.tv/pricing/. Once the 10 codes are redeemed contact us to set your account to allow overages.

Best,
Joan.

Thanks, so just to clarify this only applies if you stack 10 codes? What happens if you stack, say, 3 codes and go over? Obviously we'd need to pay for the extra minutes used, but does the 25% discount not apply? Thanks.

Hi johnr123,

While the deal is available, it applies once you stack 10 codes. Once the deal is over, regardless of the number of codes you have redeemed, you can contact us to set your account so you can cross the limits with the pay-as-you-go basis. The 25% discount will apply in your corresponding plan (1-2 codes -> Business, 3 or more -> Premium).

Best,
Joan
