VoiceDash is an amazing tool and surprisingly useful for someone who types a lot of text every day. It’s actually pretty refreshing to be able to talk to my computer and get clean, formatted text in return. So overall, this really is an amazing piece of software, and I'm a happy buyer of the top tier because of it.

I do have a few concerns or issues though, which is why I'm giving VoiceDash only 4 tacos:

1. English works well enough, but other languages are a bit lagging behind. Not a lot, but still enough to make me have to go in and edit the text manually afterwards.

2. Formatting: the way it cleans, edits, and formats the text after transcribing it doesn’t sound like me. It would be great to personalize formatting output – whether it uses a period or exclamation mark, for example, bullet points, white space, and so on. Training the AI on how I write and how I would like the formatting to be would be really nice.

3. Privacy and security: because the tool asks to control my MacBook, I have concerns. I know this is (probably) a valid request that's needed to enable keyboard shortcuts for recording, or to automatically paste the transcription in whatever app I'm using. But still... this means that – theoretically – VoiceDash would be able to access my entire clipboard. My keystrokes. My microphone or camera at any time. And honestly, who knows what else? Yes, I know they have a privacy policy that seems good enough; and yes, the company seems trustworthy, and the devs seem like nice people. But at the end of the day, is there really, truly a foolproof way to know with absolute certainty that the app isn't collecting sensitive information and/or doing something malicious in the background? At the moment, no, not really... So although I gave it access (to be able to use it), I’m definitely not comfortable with this. It would be good if the developers either found a way to circumvent the need for such access, or open‑sourced the software so we can verify what’s happening under the hood. Because, while – again – the developers seem like nice people with good intentions, a trustless system (by design!) that doesn’t require blind trust in people or a company would address this, my biggest concern.

Otherwise, VoiceDash is amazing, the roadmap is promising, and I’m looking forward to the iOS app as well. I honestly think these privacy and security concerns are valid, and I hope they will be addressed down the line.

Oh, and by the way: I "wrote" this review by talking to my computer with VoiceDash, and only spent maybe about 1-2 minutes manually editing my review afterwards. Yes, it's really THAT good!
