Honestly - very good but don't be fooled!
Guys, this is a very simple and powerful piece of software.
šI did my initial impression video hereš
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2IRPJvaiNY
But I want to tell you what I think about it now that I have played more.
š§What it does
It allows you to upload a video and edit out pauses
It will decide when to do a punch in - that is zoom in on your face
It will automatically insert appropriate music and keep it at a low volume
There are options for improving audio and video quality
Let's not be fooled
This will not replace your video editing. I mean if you think you just upload AI edit and download and bingo then you're mistaken. That's not what the software claims to do.
šHere's how I see this software:
I record a lot of videos - either webinars, interviews, or review videos where I am on camera.
Sometimes I make a mistake, or I stop talking while I try to figure something out, or the phone rings and the camera keeps rolling. Sometimes I think and that is all being recorded.
Now I tell you it's a pain in the ass to have to edit out all those pauses. That's what this software will do. So for me I am using it to clean up my videos, then download them and then do the final edit - eg where I stumbled or did a second take on a part of the video.
The software detects the pauses and removes it but can not rectify your mistakes!
Issues I have seen so far:
šno control on the punch in and punch out - this is fine when you are just on camera, but I ran a video I did of me training with me as a bubble on the bottom right of the screen - standard tutorial video. It punched in while I was trying to show something on the screen so the viewer was not able to see what I was pointing to!
šsmart music - if you use this software as I use it, then when you edit out the mistakes the music make jump - as you've obviously broken the flow of the music.
resize of video - in theory you can export at different aspect ratios - I've not be able to see that working.
Now remember these are not criticisms these are my use cases and what I have found.
On the plus side
ā¤ļøThis has saved me time in my editing
ā¤ļøIt has allowed me to use the punch in facility which I think makes the video a bit more interesting when doing talking head
ā¤ļøThey doubled up the time available for each package
ā¤ļøThey have a solid roadmap
šConclusions?
A great piece of time saving software which will help you with editing as long as you realise it won't produce a Hollywood film for you (no software can do that)

May 9, 2024Hi Richard,
Thank you so much for the thorough review here and on YouTube.
My team and I poured years of work into creating Wisecut, and it makes our day to be recognized in your list of Pros. But we are just getting started, and there's a lot of room for growth.
Thank you for your feedback, responding inline:

The Auto Punch In/Out feature works really well in most cases, especially headshots and interviews.
As for the other cases, we've been training the feature to recognize different types of videos like tutorials and screen recordings to perform accordingly.
If you can send us your video, we'd love to review it with our engineers to understand why it didn't recognize and how we can improve it.
We will also discuss if we can offer more control to this feature.

If you make changes to your edit, Wisecut will re-edit the music for you automatically. But if you bring the edit to other software, then yes, any edits you make to the content, like cuts or reorder, will break the flow of the music.
Thanks again for the review. Don't hesitate to reach out if you need any help.
