Wise cut. With rough edges.
I was excited about their AI editing features like auto punch in/out, which are not available in Spoke/Pictory. And since the limits are 10x lower than the competition (10h in WiseCut VS 100h in Pictory), I had very high expectations for the AI features.

Pros
.
👍 The audio enhancement features are great -- I selected a video where the speaker was soft. WC could enhance the volume and make it sound good. Would be good if we could see the different types of enhancements WITHOUT needing to render first.
👍 Accurate transcription quality.
👍 Direct export to YouTube
👍 Able to DL subtitles and comes with proper file format and timestamps. Need the ability to add multiple speakers.
👍 Punch in/ out makes the video more watchable. Would be good if we could manually punch in/out ourselves. No need AI all the time!
👍 Automatically cut away scenes with awkward pauses/ nobody talking. Does it well in my testing.
👍 Ability to set music/media volume for EACH scene. Video is automatically split into multiple scenes after upload.
.
Cons/ Need improvement
.
👎 Need categories/ filters to find the right BGM easily -- There's a search bar, but you won't know what the categories are! Should also allow us to mark BGMs as favs.
👎 The idea of auto balancing the volume of the BGM is good. But I tested a few different videos it was too soft. I also couldn't preview it to adjust BEFORE rendering.
👎 Cannot click on a word to start editing -- You have to activate it by clicking a button first.
👎 Cannot watch video while editing -- have to exit "edit mode" by clicking the button again. A lot of unnecessary clicks to enter and exit "edit mode".
🙏 At least create keyboard shortcuts to make editing easier.
👎 You cannot cut any word you want - this is a major flaw for the video editor. Usually you can remove by simply highlighting any text you want and delete. Wisecut divides captions into paragraphs, and you can delete only these predefined paragraphs.
👎 Slow cutting -- each "cut" takes 2-4 seconds to confirm AND automatically exits "cut mode". If you want to continue cutting, you have to click a button and enter cut mode again. Unnecessary clicks.
👎 Unable to select any sentence you want to convert to a separate video
You can, however, select the predefined scenes and convert them to videos. But what happens if you want to convert half of scene 1 and half of scene 2? Can't do that.
🙏 Please implement an undo button -- can't undo if you cut/edit wrongly.
⭐ Note that credits are used up when you UPLOAD a video and not on rendering. You'd usually upload a longer video before trimming them down. That means you may hit your limits sooner than expected. I hope they can consider increasing the limits AND give us roll-overs for up to a year. Please also consider lowering the add-on pricing to $1/h
Good luck!

May 9, 2024Hi Ken Moo,
Thank you so much for your thorough review.
My team and I poured years of work into creating Wisecut, and it makes our day to be recognized in your list of Pros. But we are just getting started, and there's a lot of room for growth.
Responding inline to the list of needs improvement:
👎 Need categories/ filters to find the right BGM easily -- There's a search bar, but you won't know what the categories are! Should also allow us to mark BGMs as favs.
True, as for now, you can use the search bar to search by category like ("happy" or "business"). You can also click the music info icon to check the category.
Creating filters, like you said, will definitely make it easier. Although we can't prioritize this right now, we'll include it on our roadmap for future improvements.
👎 The idea of auto balancing the volume of the BGM is good. But I tested a few different videos it was too soft. I also couldn't preview it to adjust BEFORE rendering.
It usually works really well on our tests. Please send us your project to support@wisecut.video so our engineers can review and improve it.
👎 Cannot click on a word to start editing -- You have to activate it by clicking a button first.
Yes, when you click a word, it goes to that part of the video. We think it's faster to go through your content like this. I'll discuss it with the Product team if there's a way around it.
👎 Cannot watch video while editing -- have to exit "edit mode" by clicking the button again. A lot of unnecessary clicks to enter and exit "edit mode".
You can watch most of the content without needing to exit the storyboard, but when it comes to music or bigger changes, then yes, you need to click on the Preview button. That's something we are looking to improve as the technology evolves.
🙏 At least create keyboard shortcuts to make editing easier.
Yes, we'll include this on our roadmap. Although we can't prioritize it right now, it's something we will implement in the future.
👎 You cannot cut any word you want - this is a major flaw for the video editor. Usually you can remove by simply highlighting any text you want and delete. Wisecut divides captions into paragraphs, and you can delete only these predefined paragraphs.
Yes, this is already in our roadmap.
👎 Slow cutting -- each "cut" takes 2-4 seconds to confirm AND automatically exits "cut mode". If you want to continue cutting, you have to click a button and enter cut mode again. Unnecessary clicks.
Thanks for the feedback. Although we may not be able to prioritize it right now, I'll discuss with the product team how we can improve this.
