WP 301 Redirects Reviews

Stay well away from this plugin and find an alternative, unless you're fine with underhanded practices and egregious HTTP requests back to their own server. The plugin creators, WebFactory Ltd, go to lengths to silently add their own plugins to the first positions on the 'Add plugin' page on your dashboard. There's no indication that these have been added by a third party, and you have no control over this whatsoever as there's no option to control it. I poked through the plugin's code and there's not even a hook to stop this nefarious behaviour, it's astounding.

Sent them an email about this a while back and they never even bothered to reply. Here's the email, verbatim:

"1) It's absolutely disgraceful that you maliciously add two of your own plugins to the 'Add plugins' menu, in first and second position, with no disclosure that you're doing such. On a premium plugin, mind you.

2) What is with the insane HTTP requests to your API? That there's no setting for this and you's think this is okay is absolutely mental!"

I used this plugin for quite a long time, but never again.

It took me few days to understand how to use the plugin, but now it very very useful.
I also contacted support and got quick support via email.

This is a very easy and powerful tool to use. I love how quick you can set up redirects.

Solved a lot of my problems, every WP website needs this plugin.

This tool gives you control over all your links and much more! It definitely deserves 5 tacos!

I have an old, old, blog that I've updated since 2011 and taught myself WordPress website design and ecommerce on. It's been neglected since I stopped freelancing and got burned out a few years ago, and wasn't exactly wonderfully organized to begin with.
WP 301 redirects was just what I needed when refreshing and starting my own SEO audit. I'm removing similar categories and keywords, and shortening urls and titles. This plugin saves me the time of the extra step to add a redirect manually. The rules are really nice and work!
It is also nice to monitor 404 not found instances.
An conflict with w3 Total Cache was fixed within days of me reaching out to tell them of the issue.
This plugin is a "must" if you have ever changed domains or made major structural changes to improve your SEO!

After installing this plugin, my site speed went from an average of less than 2 seconds to over 10 seconds: https://nimb.ws/RQg6x5. Yeah. You gotta wonder on a site that's getting A in GTMetrix: https://gtmetrix.com/reports/www.rncareers.org/AZ30nOye/ and fully loaded at 1.3 seconds to over 10 seconds. Wow.

On another site, trying to figure out what the heck was wrong with the page speed, I used: https://pagespeed.web.dev/, this plugin changed the URLs from:

https://rncareers.org/rn-programs/pennsylvania/
https://www.rncareers.org/rn-programs/pennsylvania/.

No wonder I was getting error after error. And was this plugin smart enough to figure how it was ruining my site? NO!

And of course when you come up with facts like this, usually they want to blame the site or something. But out of the box, this plugin ruined my page speeds, redirected urls to including a period after the trailing slash. NOT READY for PRIME TIME.

Its OK, I am not a huge fan of plugins building their own interface into Wordpress.

The free WordPress plugin "Redirection" looks nicer in my opinion and monitors URL changes much more reliably, WP 301 Redirects has so far missed all URL changes I have made.

Also the entire reason I purchased the plugin was for "Link Checker" which isn't working, I have reported to them but its been a week and still no update from them.

I had been using this plugin before this deal came to Appsumo. It's great to see this is available on Appsumo. I wanted to upgrade it to the Pro. It's the right time to buy it, and I bought it without any hesitation. Its pro version is excellent. Love it!

I've been using WP 301 Redirects for almost 12 months now, as I picked up a 'freebie' deal on AppSumo last year. It has saved me a lot of work and done a great job of managing my redirects from a major site rebuild. I had a site built with Joomla and wasn't looking forward to having to map the redirections manually in my .htaccess file. I was new to WordPress and this plugin saved my bacon.

Forward nearly 12 months, and AppSumo is running this current deal. I picked up a Tier 3 deal and had some issues getting the activation sorted out, so I emailed WebFactory Ltd support. Before I could blink, Ivan from their support team had replied to my email. After several emails back and forward, I was up and running with my new subscription.

I have been using Gordan's plugin for ages and the new link scanner is awesome! It helps to find broken links and links to URLs that have a negative effect on my SEO - great work as always!

As a long time user of Broken Link Checker (BLC), WP 301 Redirect Pro intrigued me, especially when they advised me it does everything BLC does and a lot more. Unfortunately, while this plugin does a lot, it does not do everything that BLC does. In many ways, it feels like I upgraded from a Toyota Corolla to a Lexus but many of the things that made BLC great are missing that feel like a step backward.

Let’s list the positives. From the start, the redirection rules allow me to replace (for my needs) the Redirection Plugin (one less plugin is always a good thing). The auto-redirection is fantastic and allows me to see where people are landing on my site (or bots) to help fill gaps or be sent to the wrong page.

The 404 log is a game-changer, and I spent time realising that over the years, my website changed, but even google was still trying to go on now 404 pages. However, it helped me add relevant 301 redirects.

The link scanner does give a lot more detail than BLC in that it tells you not just any redirects but also if it’s a nofollow, noopener and various attributes.

That said, what is missing is the ability to change the link directly in the log/scan (or multiple at once) lists, which saves a lot of time. Instead, you must go to each page and change it manually. Additionally no ability to ignore types of pages in the scan EG I don’t like to scan draft posts as they are a work in progress, and things can change at any time (scheduled/published is fine).

There are more things I would love to see, such as ignoring redirects and 404 from specific IP addresses (we have a static IP). Also, to autofill pages/posts as you type instead of copy/pasting the whole URL.

In short, WP 301 redirect Pro feels like a scalpel that allows you to read and review various links in great detail to make informed decisions. However, it lacks global features to make it a powerhouse and a genuine BLC replacement. If you do not have a link checker, this is for you. I am happy to keep using WP 301 Redirect Pro and hope they implement more features over time.

This tool's link scanner is just amazing. Honestly, I had trouble finding a similar solution for a while now. Thankfully, a friend recommended WP 301 Redirects.

In my case, the scanner showed me a number of links that I needed to remove. Amazing if you are not a huge techie like me.

I got this free deal, then paid them for the upgraded unlimited sites.
The 404 redirection feature (which was the main reason I purchased their upgrade) doesn't work with 2 page builders I use, as well as at least 2 themes, which means that 90% of the sites I have I can not use their 404 redirection.

I did not have a good support experience while trying to get help to solve this issue. They just blame the page builder and don't want to try to fix anything.

The plugin's 301 redirection works fine, but the 404 redirection is pretty much useless when using some page builders and themes, and I just got the feeling that WebFactory support didn't really want to try to address the issue.

I'm not trying to be mean, but this is the experience I just had with their plugin and the 404 redirection feature.

I still will use the plugin for the 301 redirects (but not the 404) but it kind of stinks that I have to use a different plugin for the 404 redirection when this is built into their plugin - they just don't want to fix it.

I was so frustrated when I landed on a 404 error page. Now this is over for my sites, since I use wp 301 redirect plugin. It is smart enough to redirect to similar existing pages even if I don't create a rule. Very pleased with it. I made a custom 404 page and also allow it to redirect.

Great little plugin that you actually come to appreciate more and more as you use it.
Being a WP Reset user for some time I was expecting this product to be of a solid quality and it has delivered exactly that.
Easy installation. Simple interface yet quite powerful. I have been using pretty links free for all my redirections. This product gives you so much more - when it comes to central reporting, logs and use cases.

Simple and organized way to troubleshoot urls. Great potential!
