We added these as legal protections to make sure Yapper could continue to operate for our users under extreme circumstances. However, they seemed much more extreme then we intended and recognize how they might be off putting to deal holders.
We've since removed this language from our terms. You can go to our terms & conditions to verify.
This is the current situation, see for yourself "https://yapper.so/terms" under the section "7.1 Lifetime Plans." I am also in talks with Appsumo, as this feels like another scam to me and many other Appsumo users. After all, it is a "select deal".

Before writing this message, I naturally double-checked the Terms of Service (ToS) of numerous other software companies from which I hold LTDs. Not a single one contains clauses that are as extremely one-sided and hostile to customers as yours. Your ToS do not protect you against "extremely rare scenarios."
• You can deny us all promised updates. • You can strip us of our entire investment in the event of a company sale/acquisition. • You can terminate our access at your own discretion ("commercially unreasonable") without any refund.
This is not a "safeguard"; it is a pre-formulated termination of contract at the expense of your most loyal, early supporters. The terms agreed upon on AppSumo (Lifetime access, all updates) stand in irreconcilable contradiction to your ToS. According to established case law in most countries, particularly in the US and the EU...
specific contractual agreements take precedence over contradictory standard terms that unreasonably disadvantage the customer. Your ToS do exactly that. Therefore, they are not only "non-standard" but most likely legally unenforceable. If you do not deem it necessary to make your ToS fair, I—and likely many other buyers—will withdraw our purchase.

I think this product has incredible potential, and it's truly one of the best offer I've come across in the arena of ai video creation—even if it were priced at $29–49/month after the LTD, it would still be worth it. It would be deeply disappointing if the founder were to abandon it later, especially aftr so many loyal users have put their trust & hope into it.
